Saddened by the news of TOM NOONAN passing. A great actor with a charismatic onscreen presence who elevated everything he was in. I remember seeing him for the first time as the serial killer Francis Dollarhyde in Michael Mann's MANHUNTER and ohboy did he leave an impression (more than Buffalo Bill)

I'm the wrong guy to answer this, but I bet some of you can point Jordan toward a few helpful resources for getting started!
@stevelieberart.bsky.social Do you have any tech recommendations for anyone who wants to learn how to color comics?

Happy Lunar New Year to all who celebrate🧧

The last Year of the Fire Horse began in '66 & saw anti-war protests & civil rights struggle. It was the year Rev. Jackson left seminary to join Dr. King’s Freedom Movement.

May 2026 bring New York the same bold change people deserve.

I regularly see people wondering how it's possible that there are so many musicians and writers and film makers and artists from a tiny nation like Iceland.

And the answer is really simple: State funding for art education and artists. I literally get a salary from the government to write books.
I’m constantly astounded at the sheer level of artistic production coming out of Iceland. Novels, movies, music. Amazing.

Being a parent who really had a rough time in school, I honestly don't have that many issues if my kids skip a day here or there in theory or practice but it ABSOLUTELY destroys my day's schedule and... Yeah... Just have to roll with it. 🤷

Subscribe for more tremendous parenting thoughts. 🙄 🤣

The more of these fascist atrocities I see, the more I become an immigration maximalist. Let everyone in, give everyone work permits/green cards. Make it possible to get citizenship within a few months. Make it as easy as getting a driver's license.

Thirteen years of comic retail.
The things I've seen...
The decisions I have had to make and the realities I had to accept...
It's really mind boggling to me.

But I think the shop we opened then and the shop we opened now, while different on many many levels, still have the same core principles.

This post quite clearly shows the links between the European far-right’s efforts to erase complicity in the Holocaust, and the American right’s efforts to erase the history of slavery and Jim Crow. Which is part of why supporting DEI in the US should be seen as a Jewish issue.
This message from the US State Department about "not wanting allies to be shackled by guilt and shame" is a pretty direct call-out to the German far-right argument that Germany has spent too long feeling guilty about the Holocaust, and needs to move on and stop doing remembrance.

The drunk uncle theory.

You don’t argue with the casually homophobic uncle at Thanksgiving dinner to change his mind; you argue so that the closeted cousin at the kids table knows there’s safe people and better possibilities out there
agree with this (hah) but also think a particular mistake the left made for a long time online, and still makes to an extent, is failing to understand that the person whose mind you may actually change is the one reading the argument you're having, not the one you're arguing with
The secret to engaging in social media debate is knowing you will never win anyone over. The best you can hope for is to have people who already agree with tell you you're awesome. You might great a dopamine thrill from the righteousness of your anger! Fine benefits, all. But you will never win.

Oh, okay. I'll bite.

The right to vote is enshrined in the Constitution.

The "right" of armed federal cops to arrest, beat, and kill people with anonymity is not.
Emmer: "Another reform they claim they want is they want ICE agents to identify themselves, to show identification. But they don't want identification for voters in elections. I mean, this stuff is just intellectually inconsistent."

As a trans adult, I don't give a FUCK what your kid plays with because being trans isn't tied to those stereotypes. Using those terms - I was a tomboy, etc - are ways in which we trans people make a complex internal experience understandable to other people. It is not the whole of it!
