It's Hayao Miyazaki's 85th birthday, which led me to write at @crooked-marquee.bsky.social about the strange legacy his films have left behind in the States, driven as much by hideous AI as by an excess of merchandising: crookedmarquee.com/miyazaki-at-...

Yes, by all means, turn Venezuela into the 51st state. It's only got a population of 31 million who will all vote Democrat and drag the party far to the left (or what the rest of the world considers the center). Yes, do that. Brilliant move, Mr. President!

This will further damage our reputation – already hurt by Trump’s policies around the world – and only isolate us in a time when we need our friends and allies more than ever.

Thank you! The prepress is courtesy of @plasticfarm.bsky.social and the printing is keness.com. The rest is all me, and damn, it’s nice to be able to say that!
Hey friend! I looked over the issue Jane got, and dang! Love it, and the inks are SO tight and on point. Really digging the look of all this new work, and the previous stuff was already knocking it out of the park. Love ya, keep being awesome. : )

The Coens’ visual storytelling is always brilliant, but when they have the license of farce, it’s incredibly funny stuff. Just the scene when Norville Barnes’s Big Idea goes from development to hitting it big…!
Such an incredible use of the recurring imagery of circles, both visually and conceptually. Plus the dueling good and evil janitors get me every time.

Tonight’s viewing: THE WIZARD OF OZ and, as always, THE HUDSUCKER PROXY. There aren’t many New Year’s themed movies. What few there are, PROXY is my favorite.

I watched Out of the Past for the first time last night and I'm thinking that it's time this whole colour fad movies have been going through ended. 1/3
