Watching the world burn at 200 Megahertz.

a 1999 artificial life pet watching the crumbles, wondering how long until the power goes out for the computer I live on, and getting annoyed at AIbros tarnishing the good name of neural nets.

The worst thing about burnout for me is that at times my reading comprehension takes a big steaming shit and it can be hard to tell when it's happening.

Take this as an apology in advance if I am uncharitable with you in a stupid way.

It seems to be a longstanding move to diminish the role of the conscious, deliberate activist. I remember when I learned Rosa Parks was a trained and experienced activist and not, as I had been led to believe, just a lady who decided to Do Something one day.

yeah seeing the "Minneapolis took off because the so-called 'activists' got out of the way and let normal people in" takes is really frustrating. that's not at all an accurate look at what's happening in Mpls or anywhere else. All these movements rely on cores of people who have experience.
Lots of regular degular, never-done-an-activism folks have been activated in recent months and are working alongside a bunch of seasoned, die-hard, been-tired-for-ten-years-or-more organizers, and you don't know all of those stories bc most people are moving with a bit of discretion in these times.

Stancil is a hero to the most lazy, malicious neoliberal cunts alive (YIMBundance dorks, pundits, consultants) because he's the first one of *their* class to ever *do anything* (ICE Watch)

He's their champ

So, they have to act like he's protesting *the right way* purely to left-punch protesters

Very much the origin story of a 21st-century temperance movement
The Kalshi head of comms showed up in my replies and dozens of users are now telling her to, in Bluesky parlance, unalive themself. Feels like sentiment is turning on gambling.

the problem is that entire generation of dems and their younger disciples are all elitist pricks who think one of their main jobs is to discipline their base, NOT reflect that base's policy preferences. which is why we need to kick every last one of them out of office
I stand corrected. Four out of 5 Democrats want to abolish ICE.

Any elected Dem asking for less is outside the mainstream of their party.
Their new poll came out today. It's up to 79% support including 66% (!) strongly support.

I really just wish there wasn’t so much fearmongering about testosterone. It’s not some monster chemical that’s gonna turn you into an angry mutant, it’s a perfectly normal hormone that most adult human bodies produce on their own in at least some quantity. It’s literally fine lmao

so like beyond even "opsec" and boundaries, dude just straight-up ignored best-practices and invented his own rules to (apparently) grandstand/create-a-viral-moment with a journalist

as good a reason as any to declare someone a risk imo

When I talked to patrollers about (possibly) getting into this, two of the first things they taught me were that you should always follow a suspect vehicle from half a block away (at minimum) and never roll your windows down for them

He didn't do either of those things.

As a former hacker whom specialized in social engineering and OSINT, people underestimate how even small threads of information can compromise and endanger many, many people (and I got out of the game over a decade ago, that shit's even easier to crack now).
I am hearing folks who have never been involved in putting together a protest or protecting one talking about how silly and frivolous "opsec" concerns are, and I want to say directly: you have no idea what you are talking about.

People have been killed for getting made famous by the press.

Weirdly this makes me think it more likely that he killed himself - he could see all the pieces that he'd put into play, and he could see that he was being hung out to dry and somebody else was going to claim the throne he was building for himself.
I read thousands of pages of Epstein files this weekend trying to understand what he wanted out of his meeting with 4chan's Christopher Poole. Here's everything we know about Epstein's plans to dismantle the internet and, eventually, democracy.

But I remember that dude showing up in the mentions of people talking about their personal struggles to argue that the economy was good, and therefore they were lying.

Just absolutely demented behavior, but he built an audience of 100k followers by putting on that show.

literally any time he says something NOT overtly evil, possibly even tangential to "a correct take, actually", you have an army of braying dipshits ready to erect statues of him and kill people who know who he actually is

and then 5 minutes later he does this kind of shit. EVERY SINGLE TIME.

I think the other people miss about "opsec" is that it's not just about the state, it's about stuff like not letting Neo Nazi groups easily get photos of people or protecting internal data like contact details.
I agree that "opsec" is often used a shibboleth in leftist spaces to justify gatekeeping.

At the same time, prosecutors move slowly and they WILL raid your fucking house out of the blue a year later.

Don't assume the feds are stupid or not paying attention just because "everyone's been out there".

"document everything" puts innocent people at risk because the state cares not that they have done nothing illegal. they will use OSINT from the video you took of a crowd with faces visible to identify people to prosecute.

your video "exculpating" them is useless because the ride is the punishment
I should not have to say this but if you are a legal observer your job is not to go snitch on any and all illegal things.

Your job is SPECIFICALLY AND EXCLUSIVELY to record law enforcement brutality, illegality, and overreach.

It is ABSOLUTELY NOT to snitch on protests you find too spicy.
