Well, here we all are. I'm a dad of three, a hospital chaplain semi-reluctantly ascended to management, a film photographer, a board game fan, a reader, and a pizza topping maximalist.

My interests tend to run broad, and in this next political epoch I'm trying to keep my focus local and joyful.

This piece of shit quisling should never know a moment's piece in public for the rest of his well-compensated life.
Whoa -- Sen. Durbin went to up Leader Thune during the vote last night to tell him that on the shutdown vote and ACA promise that "8 of us are sticking our neck out that you're going to keep your word. I hope you will. He said 'I assure you I will,'" Durbin says just now

A shot across the bow.
The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Per several reports in Israeli media the former IDF AG is hospitalized following an attempted suicide earlier today. Very few details, but she's apparently conscious and in stable condition.
Allow me to summarize:
1. 5 IDF soldiers caught sexually molesting a Palestinian prisoner.
2. IDF files charges.
3. IDF AG faces enormous pressure from government to drop charges. Mob storms base where it happened.
4. IDF AG leaks video documenting the molestation.
5. IDF AG pushed out (continued)

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

As a survivor of abuse, I understand the thinking behind appeasing an abuser. You think being cooperative will get them to see you’re good and stop the abuse. But it does the opposite: It teaches them that abusing you gets them what they want. Accommodating abusers only makes abuse worse.

Jesus, people, I'm not saying they'll all fall on their swords because we ask politely.

You demand a politician's resignation not because you think it will actually happen, but because you want to make it clear you think it *should* happen, you're that pissed off.

It's a vote of no confidence.

Many are saying:

Fuck Schumer.
Either he can’t keep them in line or he orchestrated and approved this. The result is the same: he has to go. He should’ve been gone months ago.
Chuck Schumer must be replaced as leader since he cannot keep his caucus in line.

"Democratic capitulators whose seats would be filled by Democratic governors in the event of vacancy (Durbin, Fetterman, Kaine, King) should be under immense pressure to resign mid-session. Now, even. Or in Kaine’s case, after Abigail Spanberger is sworn in. If your senator fits that bill, get loud"

Senator Schumer has failed to lead this party in one of its most critical moments, and Americans will pay the price. It’s time for him to step down from leadership and make way for a new generation willing to fight for the people instead of the powerful.

Replace Smith with Peggy Flanagan. Do not replace her with Angie Craig.

Maybe if people think the Democratic Party is "weak" it is not because they think that Democrats "care about other people" but that they "fold every single time."
This shit is why people don’t trust the Democratic Party.
