The FCC chair whispered, didn’t issue a ruling that could be assaulted in court, and CBS scurried to pre-comply
Stephen Colbert said that the FCC and CBS - which is in no way a compromised or complicit organization - wouldn’t allow him to broadcast an interview with Democratic State Rep James Talarico. www.nytimes.com/2026/02/17/a...

These interviews with former Obama administration officials underscore a mistake none of them will express bluntly.

They gravely overestimated the character of the American people. www.nytimes.com/2026/02/17/u...

I understand framing the AI bubble RAM supply crisis in terms of stuff like video game consoles because nerds can conceptualize that but the framing does really undersell the sheer magnitude of how it's going to fuck up everything that even touches a computer.

I don't think these are unreasonable asks
Again, all I'm asking is that any Democrat who wants my vote support 1. Reverting Trump's anti-trans policies, 2. Commit to fighting against the future erosion of trans rights, and 3. Support legislation codifying trans rights into law.

Very weird how many of you centrists think that's unreasonable

When Ds are back in charge, they have to change everything. No moderate half-measures. Just relentless razing of the corrupt institutions that enriched the worst people in the world and propped up fascism.

A few suggestions...

I'm sure we've all seen the graphic that lays out the United States ' relationship with slavery. It's good, but I never thought it was quite impactful enough. So I made my own.

I've used a few key events, including my birth, to highlight how recent these events are in history.

1 square = 1 year.

Remember when Roe was settled law? Remember when birthright citizenship was just an unquestioned feature of the 14th amendment? Remember when states and localities regulated guns all the time because of course the 2nd amendment wasn’t about individual self-defense?

My kid being one of ‘em and we read every single one of the books that came to her.

My daughter graduated summa cum laude from UNI in December.

Correlation is not causation. But still, Dolly’s program helped instill a love
of reading that helped my child succeed.
The angel of abundance, the Dolly Lama of literacy, the distributor of almost a third of a billion books for kids.
The study found that children enrolled in Parton’s Imagination Library “were 5 times more likely to be interested in reading, 11 times more likely to be interested in books, and 15 times more likely to join in during shared reading, compared to children who aren't enrolled.”

While I maintain that Vertigo is Hitchcock's best, I can understand why someone would dislike it.

Rear Window, on the other hand, is that rare perfection where I can't comprehend how someone couldn't enjoy it. Godfather 1 (even if 2 is better) and Wizard of Oz are other examples of this.

On Thanksgiving, the immigrant children held at the Dilley detention center gathered in the gym for what they thought was a holiday feast.

The kids salivated over a spread of turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, a family told me.

But the food wasn’t for detainees — it was for the staff.

The concept of “lying under oath” is up for grabs right now. All the Trump SCOTUS judges did it about Roe. Kennedy did it to get his post. If one of these fuckers isn’t prosecuted it will be crystal clear that there are zero repercussions for doing so, and everyone will lie forever.

The Fight Over US Climate Rules Is Just Beginning
As the EPA moves to roll back the endangerment finding, which allows it to regulate greenhouse gases, experts predict uncertainty for business and a protracted legal fight.
