School funding in California comes from the state and is allocated based on enrollment and attendance.

Most school districts are facing hard choices about which schools to close because they do not have enough students to keep every neighborhood school open.

Crowding is not a problem we have here!
Oh no, more students! The horror!

Doing some election analysis on some estimated precinct demographics and it looks like the strongest correlate of Frey vote share is median household income (0.75) [1 is perfect correlation]. Strongest negative correlation is between Frey vote share and share taking transit to work (-0.65)

Most local parties are run by people who've done the job for years because no one stepped up. So step up.

Be authentically you. Speak to your community.

There is a MASSIVE leadership vacuum at the local level almost everywhere outside major cities. Fill it.

Literally all you have to do is show up and be willing to work. Be willing to knock doors and make phone calls.

It helps if you're also willing to try to get along with people, but I've learned that even that is not always necessary lol.

Mayor Jacob Frey also does not treat people with basic respect, making it almost impossible to work with him. A very common experience I’ve heard from multiple council members is that you only get a call from the mayor when he’s calling to yell at you.

Your laundry list of popular policy proposals you run on should be 1) simple, easy to understand, 2) connect back to a larger values-based theme of your candidacy 3) concrete and tangible and 4) repeated endlessly until voters are sick of hearing them

The Minneapolis chamber has laid off staff and had $500k stolen by Jonathan Weinhagen. Meanwhile their benefactors like Target are reeling and laying off workers.

But still they have seemingly unlimited corporate money to defeat labor backed candidates with baseless attacks inflaming old schisms.
Huge late Minneapolis PAC campaign contributions, yesterday:
- To pro-Frey All of Mpls:
$100,000 from the Mpls Chamber
$25k from developer Sherman Assoc
- From All of Mpls to Thrive Mpls: $25k
- To anti-Frey Mpls for the Many
$15k from CTUL
$25k from Take Action Mn

My God they've just created a machine that incentivizes every Trump staffer to break the economy (and much else) on purpose so they can insider trade on Truth Social.

Literally every insider trading son of a bitch in this regime is gonna be deliberately *increasing* volatility as much as possible.
"Truth Social users will be able to trade prediction contracts related to major events and milestones, such as political elections, interest and inflation rate changes, commodity prices on gold and crude oil, events across all major sports leagues"

What the bloody hell?

one of the things I have come to believe is that the failure state of capitalism is not exactly the material phenomenon Marx describes so much as a kind of nihilism that comes from having enough money to buy anything you are legally permitted to purchase
the american financial elite, all at once, had abandoned capitalism in an attempt to purchase the power of the state.

It's hard to overstate how fully engaged Chicago and the surrounding suburbs are in this ICE madness. There are neighborhood watch alerts, spontaneous crowds gathering outside schools at pick up & drop off plus madly blowing whistles and honking car horns, this city is fighting back and hard.
