Different Alan Scott than the Green Lantern one, but we are both gay.

Were I ever actually to get off my but and post stuff, I'd be posting about Tabletop, Comics, Mixology, Current Events, and Retail Management.

A Dem that runs as pro trans gets a SIXTY ONE POINT BUMP WITH DEM VOTERS and a NINE POINT BUMP WITH INDIES over ones that go silent.

The failure to get this is a prior beliefs/incentives problem but it's also a research problem. The current establishment's understanding of voters is utterly cooked.
Relevant to that is another finding in the poll. A theoretical officeholder that speaks up about these issues is preferred by:

ICE raids D+72 I+40
Trans D+61 I+9
Gaza genocide D+33 I-24

Guessing that Gaza one was a question wording effect, but if you're running a a Dem, those are your voters.

Just did this.

"Rude" is essentially a shadowban and is capriciously applied.

"Rude or impolite, including crude language and disrespectful comments, without constructive purpose."

Dudes, your CEO was shrieking "Waffles!" at people.

HELLO I WAS A QUEER TEEN IN THE 1990s AND THE ARGUMENTS AGAINST SOCIAL TRANSITION NOW ARE INDISTINGUISHABLE FROM THE ARGUMENTS AGAINST "LETTING" US BE (at the time, for me) GAY OR LESBIAN THEN.

They all rest on the belief that it's inherently better to be straight (then)/cis (now) and that's BS.
Hilary Cass here arguing for children to be prevented from being known by a preferred name or getting a haircut in case it encourages them to continue later in life to transition.

Hilary Cass acts like gender variant children should have the transness hazed out of them.

Their seeds are on the outside so they don't gestate their young. I believe that makes them Marsupials, specifically.

Picking on JCO here, but this attitude is 100% wrong.

Republicans under Trump are so unpopular that the Democratic candidate is going to win no matter who they are. So now is when you swing for the fences.

Folks, we need to talk about something called the Glass Cliff.🧵
AOC! you can love everything about her---(as many did Elizabeth Warren & especially Bernie Sanders)--while still being realistic about her prospects.
GOP would love Democrats to run another woman against their unabashedly Sexist White Male candidate whoever-it-is.
from the perspective of someone who might want to be president, the best time to run for the white house is now, not later. so if AOC is thinking about it — if the white house is her ambition — then her best bet is to throw her hat in the ring

One thing that stands out is that even the models that get the answer right take several paragraphs to do so.

A classic sell case for AI is "You can get it to write emails for you". This really highlights how wrongheaded that is, and how you should probably just be emailing your prompt.
I tested this across a couple of sites. Claude Haiku and Sonnet failed (Opus, an extremely expensive model, passed). Mistral’s Le Chat also failed.

You know which model kicked this question‘s ass? Deepseek, which is also the cheapest model.

Is it safe to store bicycles that close to the warp core?
Beneath Berlin's Potsdamer Platz, an overlooked retail strip has been reborn as a bicycle parking facility and public passage connecting users to the S-Bahn station. Modest in scale but rich in possibilities, it integrates seamlessly into the revitalised entertainment, commercial and office centre.🧵

I'm reminded that ABBA's outfits were tax deductible on the basis that they were too ridiculous to be worn as everyday clothing and therefore must be exclusively for use as costumes.
I tried to argue that I should be able to deduct book purchases and streaming subscriptions as “research” because all my other writer friends do it. My accountant basically gave me the “and if all your friends jumped off a bridge” lecture

I do want to vaccinate, and absolutely will not google that term, but am cursed with enough knowledge of Greek roots that a mental image nevertheless presents itself.
Menfolk who maybe don’t want to vaccinate, please google “orchitis”.

It occurs in 20-30% of post-pubertal boys and men who contract mumps.

So I love "Living In Future Tense", and this little Valentines Day vignette knocks it out of the park. I'm excited to see more of these characters, who have only had a few scenes in the main comic.

I don't like the "hallucination" language that has emerged not because it's humanizing or w/e but because it belies the simple fact that every result an LLM has ever spat out, even when incidentally correct, is fundamentally hypothetical

Very often, people who insist that they're a part of a "silent majority" really mean "I'm aware that my opinions differ from those of the general culture, but no one I talk to disagrees with me, so we MUST all be being silenced somehow, despite the fact that I've never been silent a day in my life."

Were released into the air,
And one by one they crossed the line
From over here to over there.

A blip upon the radar screen.

In this social climate, alleging wrongdoing by a trans woman without doing basic factchecking is irresponsible. You can't put the hate genie back in the bottle when you realize you were wrong.

I hope other journalists watching this unfold take that to heart.

Rascal has amended their article "to add new details from Jay Dragon", but it's clear that the information they added is not new to them, but simply info they chose not to share with the readers until Jay spoke up:
That does not appear to be the case. It's pretty evident that Rascal knew these details and simply chose not to include them in the original article: 🧵

1) I agree that Trump's people aren't capable or clever enough to "steal the midterms".

2) I think they are brazen and witless enough to TRY to do it in an utterly hamfisted way that ends in real violence.

1/ This is anecdotal, of course, but the whole Bad Bunny-TPUSA Halftime Show kerfuffle seems to have been pretty anticlimactic. None of the MAGAs I know on FB mentioned either in real time, and Twitter seemed to largely not care.

I have a theory about why this is.
