I really think a huge amount of economic anxiety is this. I don't think it's entirely rational. People hate renting, and so much wealth people directly see in their families is directly because of appreciating home values.
THE MEDIAN AGE OF A U.S. HOME BUYER NOW SITS AT A RECORD HIGH OF 61 YEARS, PER NAR.

There is no doubt in my mind that every person in Trump's inner circle - every single one of them - just despises him.
Pirro: "Mr President, there is in this room a group of people who love you, who believe in you, and who are so proud to be in this Oval Office and to be part of this amazing day because you have changed the course of America."

I am enough of a libertine that I believe nudity is not wrong, sex itself is not wrong, and all of that "different strokes" stuff, and I still think being a grown-ass adult man who uses social media to follow and keep track of porn stars is pretty sketchy.

I mean, if it's a national political figure or something the rules are a little different, but, you know...just try to be normal. 1

If I had a magic wand I would use it to make a Venn diagram of on-line men who went went crazy for the 2005 movie's anti-fascist message and the online men who have been pushing more and more for fascism over the past decade.

1/2 One thing I wish Dem politicians could wrap their head around is speaking plainly and clearly is seen by most people (rightly or wrongly) as a sign on honestly and directness. And tossing in phrases like "the American people" or "the cruel, failed policies of Donald Trump"
I mean, that edited pull quote I'm seeing everywhere is *strong*. The actual unedited clip of what Jeffries actually says when I watch the video is more tepid and weak-tea.

This is the correct response.
Jeffries: "I'm not gonna respond to any comments from randos like Dr Oz who is woefully unqualified to be in whatever position he holds in the administration. He's a joke."

A few years ago there was a terrible Gen Z tweet everyone dunked on about how people should get their car insurance payments back if they don’t use it. Anyway it’s fun to discover this is now the stated position of the GOP

I keep bringing it up but Julia Ioffe’s fantastic feminist history of Russia discusses how men in Russia basically saw any decline in their station as a personal affront and reacted accordingly (by drinking and doing nothing else)

Does the President believe air traffic controllers have been on strike this whole time?
Like, is it that the one thing he remember ever knowing about air traffic controllers is that one time with Reagan in the 1980s so he just assumes that's what's happening now?

I know I just posted this, but I'm having a hard time letting this go, so I want to just spell it out as plainly as possible:
This is a sitting US Senator making the argument that *not* filing an insurance claim when you have not had a covered loss is fraud.

Honest, non-snark question: is there any mechanism whatsoever that will enforce this vote happening in two months? Or is everything reliant on Republicans still being willing to do what they said they would months prior, even if they think it would be in their interest to just not do it.
Kaine on why he thinks just getting a vote on healthcare is a win: "We're the minority party, but everybody will get to see who is standing for them when it comes to lowering their healthcare costs"

When I was a young man "moderate" was used to describe a temperament more than anything else. Nine out of ten times today whenever I see "moderate" it invariably ends up meaning "mostly liberal but still uncomfortable with people who aren't straight white and cis."
Name the ‘moderate position’ on literally any issue. Quickly.

This isn't the cause, surely, but it is worth noting that when I was at @ordinarytimes.bsky.social there was a big consensus among the generation behind me that renting was the wiser fiscal move and only morons threw away money buying a home. So I'm unsure generational comparisons work that well.

OT1H, the 'satire' thing is probably small potatoes.
OTOH, it's a great and illustrative example of how the right can say any obviously dishonest, disingenuous, and clearly false dumb-ass s**t and mainstream political reporters will just incredulously pass it along unchecked to their own audience.

Would it kill a single national television or online news personality to take a moment to learn what is and isn't satire.
