The last 24 hours I lurked on Twitter more than anytime since I quit it, and one thing dawned on me - I think there are a lot of libs who actually just enjoy "the fight" .. there is something cathartic about dunking or replying to a conservative making a dumb point, and you obviously lose that here
Feels like there is way less reporting on the protests in Iran this time around compared to previous years even though these feel pretty significant
Things are going from bad to worse in Iran’s economy which is only going to fuel the protests. Exchange rates are up, gold is soaring and the currency has hit a new low of 147,000 tomans to the dollar.

So has The Argument re-evaluated their post on the importance of staying on Twitter now that it is an automated revenge porn and CSAM producer? Or do we have to preach liberalism among the Nazi pedophiles (read: make left punching posts that are popular among them but don’t change their POV).

If ilhan Omar had a "favorite philosopher" who said something like this, the media would literally hound her into resigning. But they don't even report on the fact that the sitting vice president loves this guy, a disgusting anti-semite
Quick question: what the FUCK?!?

This would be big: Axios reports former Democratic Rep. Mary Peltola is "taking concrete steps toward a Senate run" in Alaska and is "expected" to announce a campaign against GOP Sen. Dan Sullivan this month.

Really nailed this one
Bill Kristol on the Bulwark today: "When I hear Democrats on background [on celebrating Maduro's capture]... They think they're being clever by being on background and they say even stupider things than if they were actually on the record."

Its hard to not be a doomer when things are this stupid
Hannity: Did you at any point offered to give him the Nobel peace prize?

Machado: It hasn’t happened yet. We want to give it to him. Share it with him.

I'll keep saying it but this is Cassidy's version of virtue signaling so his country club doctor buddies don't make fun of him at parties. Check out his personal account on X and you'll see generic GOP/Trump slop posts.
If only you were a senator or something, sweetie

I don't think this is even speculative anymore tbh
We’ll never know, but it’s very plausible that Kennedy and MAHA, were the keys to Trump gaining power again.

That’s why I will never be able to overlook anyone who fluffed these doctors or mocked those of us who desperately tried to sound the alarm bells about them.

There's a third dynamic, which is that they pick real name targets bc they can extend the bullying beyond the site. It's why both Will and Sky get doxed and emailed death threats.

I am way more right wing than either of them but you simply cannot issue me a death threat bc you don't know my name.
I think there's two basic dynamics underpinning shitty mob behavior online, and the Sky Marchini/Will Stancil stuff is an unfortunate example of each. The first is a feeding frenzy - when a post is over-interpreted or just straightforwardly misinterpreted, and especially when it escapes context.

Walz was wrong to drop out because every headline is now like this. “Uh I should drop out to avoid right-wing smears and focus on fraud” thanks man, you just validated what they said.

Some donors gave some peanuts to a few liberal content creators and it created a firestorm of outrage by other lefties calling it selling it out to the DNC lol
Ngl it’s really disheartening to see liberal currents struggle to raise 500K and these jokers just keep raising cash no questions asked

Is this just cause of the scandal? If so that bodes pretty poorly for Dems and how easy itll be for Republicans to again manufacture a crisis in 2028 or 2030
DFL staff are now confirming this is true and tim walz will be dropping from the governor’s race tomorrow morning
seems what i heard a few hours ago is true and tim walz is dropping tomorrow. my sources also couldn’t confirm it at the time though

You don't hate Republicans enough. They are so much worse than a basket of deplorables but what makes it even more frustrating is the amount of tears they'll shed if you call a spade a spade.

Millions of Americans premiums spiked by double or triple digits or they got completely priced out this month. This is pretty much the only story with extended political consequences.

Not much you can do to a President who views impeachment as a badge of honor and doesn't give a shit about posterity. Adults voted for this guy (twice) and elections have consequences.

Bukele should basically fear for his life if a Democrat wins the next election but let's be real no foreign leader is actually afraid of Democrats lol, its what makes the whole "Dems will start WW3" so insane as a rhetorical device yet we have an electorate so braindead they fall for it.
I don't have much hope of it actually happening even if/when Dems win back power, but is nice to see one Dem politician bring it up

The average liberal (not rando leftist online searching for clout) is aspirational and believes in the American project. The average conservative wants to turn the country into a combination of Hungary and Russia.
Insane how much these people hate their own country
