The last 24 hours I lurked on Twitter more than anytime since I quit it, and one thing dawned on me - I think there are a lot of libs who actually just enjoy "the fight" .. there is something cathartic about dunking or replying to a conservative making a dumb point, and you obviously lose that here
Ngl its actually not off the table that we'll do regime change in Iran. But that actually carries a much higher risk of what comes after so maybe that deters the people around Trump whereas the risk is way way way lower with Venezuela

one of my recent preoccupations is the visceral hostility the MAGA right has for the histories and traditions of the United States. these are people who spit on the Declaration and salute third-rate European despots!
It's striking that progressives like Tim Walz and Zohran Mamdani evoke the middle American attitude that, "Yes, we can fix these social problems because we're Americans and it's the right thing to do!" While the "America first" right only emulates failed and failing nation-states elsewhere.

Not really sure you can recover as a country with this out in the open corruption. Usually this stuff happens in countries that don't have functioning elections or a tradition of law and order. But the electorate is basically checked out on millionaires and billionaires committing robbing them.
He was supposed to serve 10 years and pay $36 million in restitution for defrauding investors. Never served a day. Not Somali.

This is a repeat of Trump term 1 in the sense that his popularity got destroyed by Congress passing unpopular shit in year 1 and then probably stabilizes at a floor of 40%ish for the rest of his presidency especially after Dems regain the House and prevent further political suicide legislation
