The discord thing is like, discord isn't selling porn, discord isn't selling alcohol, discord isn't analogous in any way to places that kids shouldn't be! there's no "oh the internet makes it so hard to do this properly" argument bc discord provides a service that never needed to be age-gated

yknow the average joe shmoe doesn't really need to have good taste or the ability to appreciate the classics, and nobody needs to /prefer/ morrowind to newer games, but for someone who actually worked in any other medium to say shit like this would be incredibly embarrassing

i won't deny will is being a bit of a hater here and i certainly won't deny that will is often wrong and usually very annoying but i do think the response to what he's saying here would be very different if it weren't being said by someone we already consider annoying

we basically discovered in the 1890s that the human brain is incredibly good at motion interpolation and letting the brain do frame interpolation is how film worked for like 120 years then some people decided a tiny computer that's ten billion times worse at it should take over
