Call for Proposals: Data Collection for Replication+Novel Political Science Survey Experiments Alexander Coppock and Mary McGrath January 27, 2026 We invite proposals for a survey experiment replication+novel design competition. Se- lected replication+novel design survey experiments will be conducted on large samples of American respondents, quota sampled to match U.S. Census margins and filtered for quality and attention by the survey sample provider Rep Data (repdata.com). Each proposal consists of two parts: (1) a replication study of an existing, previously published survey experiment, and (2) a novel experimental design on a topic of the authors’ choosing. The replication studies and reanalyses of the existing studies will be combined into a meta-paper to be co-authored by all authors of accepted proposals along with the princi- pal investigators (Coppock and McGrath). As a condition for acceptance, authors commit to sharing the data and producing a write-up of the findings from their novel design for submission to a scholarly journal, and public posting of a working paper pre-publication.

I think it's a mistake to think of the firing of Lisa Cook primarily in terms of Central Bank Independence, and its impact on the inflation rate.

The most significant issue is also more basic: it's the rule of law.

Reminder: It does not matter if Lisa Cook filled out a form wrong or if the raid finds some document in a file folder in John Bolton's house. These actions are wrong no matter what because they selectively target opponents of the government. The rule of law is under attack.

NEW: The 9th Circuit permits the Trump admin to terminate TPS for Honduras, Nicaragua, and Nepal for now.

This population includes 50,000 people who have been here legally since 1998 and will now have to leave the US or risk deportation. Many have no path to permanent status.

The government's motion for a stay pending appeal (Dkt. No. 5) is granted. The district court's order granting plaintiffs' motion to postpone, entered July 31, 2025, is stayed pending further order of this court. See Nken v. Holder, 556 U.S. 418, 434 (2009) (factors governing issuance of a stay pending appeal). The previously entered briefing schedule (Dkt. No. 2) is suspended. Within seven days of the issuance of a decision in National TPS Alliance v. Noem, No. 25-2120, the parties shall submit proposed schedules to govern further proceedings in this case. The government's motion for a stay of proceedings in the district court (Dkt. No. 5) is denied. Management of the docket is within the discretion of the district court. See Bigfoot Ventures Ltd. v. Knighton, 132 F.4th 1138, 1143 (9th Cir. 2025). The government has stated that it intends to move for reassignment of this case to a Case: 25-4901, 08/20/2025, DktEntry: 19.1, Page 2 of 2 different district judge, but it has not shown that the possibility of such a future motion justifies a stay of proceedings at this time.

Our paper introducing the "American Local Government Elections Database" is online at Scientific Data. The data includes 78,000 candidates in 57,000 electoral contests in races for seven distinct local political offices in most medium and large cities and counties over the last three decades.
