@luozhaotian.bsky.social has done fabulous work pulling this together.

Hyde Parkers, our alderman, Desmon Yancy, is holding a town hall this evening at MSI. Let your voice be heard!

When my father was alive, he used to bring surplus food to a pantry in my hometown. I just spoke with folks there—they have a huge line today, and it’s going to get worse. If you typically make end-of-year charitable donations, this might be a good year to move up a gift. I am sending mine now.

Am I dreaming?

This is cool.
This is located in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago, close to Fullerton and Sheffield. It's a densely populated area near DePaul University. I'm pleased to see the community standing up against these despicable individuals.

If this be the price to bring down the king, so be it. But I, like many, am furious. Why, I wonder? Because I, like many, visited the White House with family and with fellow high-schoolers. I internalized the message that the White House is our house and that the president is just a guest.

Andrassy is the best street I have ever walked. Built for a promenade, made for a protest.
This is a very, very big protest. Heroes Square alone is really big. Orban is really in trouble
Today, Hungarians protest again. And a traveler captured an image of the crowd, snaking up Andrassy Boulevard to Heroes Square, from their RyanAir flight. Who needs drones?

Total elapsed time from “I feel like I’m 25 again!” to “I’m not 25 anymore.” #TornCalfMuscle

Loving Chicago—and America.

can't wait for the next Putin-Trump summit, Hungary is a historic place to settle Ukrainian security issues

Among the people pictured here, as of today, only @ethanbdm.bsky.social is not wanted on criminal charges in Russia. Ethan, there is still time!

Sergei has always been on the right side of history. The FSB is just catching up.

Find a rally. Show up.
Next Saturday's anti-Trump 'No Kings' protest is expected to be the largest single demonstration in U.S. history.

To keep the lights on under fire, Ukraine has built secret battery parks across the country.

Their locations remain classified — hidden from Russian missiles, but crucial in surviving blackouts during massive attacks.

Ukraine Builds Secret Battery Network to Keep Power On During Russian Attacks
The batteries serve as backup power, automatically kicking in if a power plant goes offline, helping prevent blackouts and giving engineers time to restore the main grid.

Paul, why? Asking for a non-linked-in friend.

My father-in-law Evgeny Belodubrovsky died Thursday. Once described in the NYT as an “ebullient lover of Russian history and literature,” he was a survivor of the siege of Leningrad and a patriot of St. Petersburg, his true hometown. He was a collector of stories, an organizer, a writer, a father…💙

Why did Southern whites who didn’t own slaves defend slavery, an institution that hurt their own economic prospects?

I believe this is the moment that President-Elect Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and @ksonin.bsky.social compared the length of their prison sentences imposed in absentia.
So many echoes from this article for US politics....

Southwest flight attendant: If you have a connection here in Chicago, just skip it. Go downtown instead. There is so much to do, so many places to eat. You will be less happy anywhere else.

Not a coincidence that the organizational core of Navalny’s movement was an anti-corruption organization.
