For the website so illiterate even some critics on here cant read: anger over what Trump is doing to the WH—from the East Wing to the tacky gilding—isnt about process or 'the rules,' its specifically a recognition of the symbolic/ideological nature of the space & thus how these actions attack that

Eh, I know why Trump won, and the DNC can't really do anything about how different candidates position themselves. Remember the 2012 RNC autopsy that said republicans had to move to the center on race? we're not going to re-run the 2024 election.
BREAKING: The Democratic National Committee will NOT release its long-awaited autopsy on Trump's 2024 win. The report is completed but Dem leaders decided it could distract from their winning streak, so it will remain secret. Not good.

Dem Leaders Decide to Bury Damning Report on Why Trump Won in 2024
The Democratic National Committee has completed its long-awaited analysis on what went wrong in the 2024 campaign. But in a move that will attract intense criticism, it’s keeping the findings secret.

again thinking of when The Free Press ran an article alleging that George Floyd was not killed by the cops, and @radleybalko.bsky.social proved beyond any question that the article was bullshit, and instead of retracting it Weiss asked him to come on her podcast
CNN has a show with a similar line. That the problem with this country is we just aren’t talking to each other.

It’s the kind of diagnosis that a toddler would land on.

Morris does a bait and switch in this article. He stands up Van Hollen and Dems who engaged on the El Salvador removals on one side and Jeffries and Matt Yglesias on the other. He then immediately focuses all his attention on Yglesias' positions, not Jeffries or the Democrats.

Unlike Sanders, of course
one of the ways that Joe Manchin was very damaging to the Dem party as a whole was the way he'd go on television all the time to talk about how the rest of his party sucked

nobody should ever make the mistake of thinking MTG is on their side but "Republican on TV saying Republicans suck" is helpful
Marjorie Taylor Greene: "I think the midterms are gonna be very hard for Republicans. I'm one of the people that's willing to admit the truth and say I don't see Republicans winning the midterms right now, so that doesn't bode well for Mike Johnson."

Reagan was bad.

I think a good thing to remember about this stuff is that most of the guys around Reagan thought FDR was as evil as I think Reagan is, but they still worked to sell Reagan to the public as the true inheritor of FDR's legacy rather than a repudiation of it.
The presidency once served as a reminder of our common humanity. Ronald Reagan described its purpose as building "a nation composed of good and decent people."

Making the most depressing point I can make yet again: the US media is going to treat Donald Trump with far less vitriol in response to him starting a random war in Venezuela vs the sheer level of vitriol that they hurled at Joe Biden for ENDING the War in Afghanistan.
Every major news organization should be writing about how insane this is and how, if he takes this country to war (tomorrow?), it is the act of a madman.
Trump: "Venezuela is completely surrounded by the largest Armada ever assembled ... It will only get bigger, and the shock to them will be like nothing they have ever seen before — Until such time as they return to the USA all of the Oil, Land, and other Assets that they previously stole from us."

The media decided the debates were the *only* important aspect of the election when Biden was at the helm, then, once Harris swapped out and wiped the floor with Trump, they actively ignored it.

The media won Trump the election. We do not hate them enough.
yeah I refuse to rewrite this history. harris ran a _very_ tight campaign with a few (not zero!) missteps. trump was a total shitshow. the closing argument was literally a dead squirrel.

the media made it clear that debates are the most important thing ever. she disemboweled him. they didn't care.
I'm sorry, why are we retroactively acting like his campaign was particularly good in 2024? It was a shit show, it just didn't matter.
