The way that the Democratic party "got sucked in" to a conversation about identity is replicated 1:1 in this dumb interview.
Your consultant is showing, Pete.
Speaking at a Texas Tribune Festival on Friday, former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg criticized the Democratic Party for failing to reach everyday Americans, arguing that it “got sucked in” to a conversation about identity. #TribFest25
Pete Buttigieg critiques Democrats for focus on identity
The former U.S. transportation secretary said the Democratic Party should focus more on issues gripping the country, such as health care and housing affordability.

The reason there's not a "whole news story" is because the NYT didn't think Trump's many secrets and vices were going to matter; editorial had decided who was going to win and was directing their coverage towards the hacked emails that were strategically leaked to distract from the secrets and vices
The emails that you’re seeing now are news in themselves, but that’s because of how they’re coming out—a congressional committee released them—& the context in which they’re being viewed. A guy emailing a reporter talking about old girlfriends or saying someone is “dirty” is not a whole news story.

i mean there was obviously an aspect of projection there the entire time is the thing. donald trump was so openly in defiance of traditional standards of christian morality that an elaborate conspiracy theory about his enemies was necessary to justify supporting him.

More examples from this week! You are getting a lot of "free check might be on the way" stories on local news and the free check is not on the way.

The Joyce Carol Oates and “books written between 1890-1930 are so ALPHA” thing struck home because it showed how many elites nowadays lack the ability to be moved or find meaning in art beyond what we did watching John Wick and going fuck yea this rules and that explains why they believe in AI art

Saying the most basic shit about politics, like "Voters have to feel like you like them" and "We should be able work with people who aren't our exact type of communist" will get you feted as a cis white oysterman and dragged as a trans woman or a Muslim, I guess

There’s a simple solution here: James Bond in Hell. He has sex with the Devil’s wife, kills the Devil by kicking him out of a helicopter, etc.
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

If I was a Maine Senate candidate who was having a bit of a rough time, I would maybe use this opportunity to blast the independent Senator that was working hand-in-glove with the Democratic caucus leader to prematurely surrender.

This was a work by the Democratic caucus, who think you're too dull to notice that the Senators taking the fall are either out or not running in 2026.
The same body that's been processing the judicial nominations that will only entrench Trump's power grabs, they also made the decision to fold.
so currently defectors are:

The first couple seasons of Parks and Rec do exactly what this guys wants and they suck. They had to figure out that the 30 Rock approach doesn't work in a different setting and re-tool, which is why anybody even knows what it is.
The reason 30 Rock succeeds years later while parks and rec has aged like a toilet full of milk, is that 30 Rock doesnt shy away from portraying Liz Lemon as an obvious villian with a victim/hero complex, whereas Leslie Knope was played just a straight hero character, even tho she is a neolib shill

1. In the wake on Mamdani’s win, we’ll see a lot more far right anti-urban sentiment. Here’s a thread on its roots and evolution.

The idea that the city is evil and corrupt, and the countryside innocent and pure, goes back a long way: to Theocritus in Alexandria, and to the Old Testament. 🧵
