The Trump regime has been a disaster for the US people [unless they are white and very wealthy].

And a catastrophe for the US tourism industry.

Making it illegal to hold federal agents accountable does not mean people will stop holding them accountable. But I don't think the admin is considering what it looks like once normal people begin embracing illegal forms of holding these agents accountable.
A leaked DoJ memo calls for prosecutors to charge people who film ICE with “domestic terrorism”

They don’t want their atrocities documented.

They don’t want a historical record.

They don’t want the world to know.

That’s why we have to keep filming. Keep speaking out.

Phang: If that happened in January, how in the actual hell is Blanche now telling the American people that they suddenly discovered a million more documents?

GTFOH. As far back as January, the entirety of the Epstein files were transferred to Main Justice at DOJ…

I'm sharing this because sharing an NYT story about this outweighs my dislike of the publication.

We have known for months because of data outside of Japan that this year's flu season was going to be bad but we have an HHS secretary that hates vaccination and so voila.
“New York City’s syndromic surveillance system, which collects information about every patient who visits an emergency room, reported 9,857 visits for “influenza-like illness” last week. That was higher than in the worst weeks of the 2017-18 or 2024-25 flu seasons, both ranked as “high severity”

I'm going to be an asshole and say if you look up the Donner Party history through an indigenous lens it's less a tragedy and more a story of white colonialists getting what they deserved. Wel mel ti/ washoe oral history says they tried to feed them but they shot at them.
The Donner party tragedy, while obviously a tragedy, also ginned up sympathies for settlers in a time of westward colonialism and genocide of Native Americans.
Based on John Sinclair's journal, Dec 26, 1846 was the day starving members of the Donner Party chose "either to die, or preserve life by eating the bodies of the dead; slowly and reluctantly they adopted the latter alternative." t.co/L40lvPBopW

If you ever have the experience of seeing a night sky out in the deep countryside you can understand this; it really is a fundamentally different experience, and I can't imagine it not being formative to people.

Seattle has the highest DoorDash prices in the country.

Nothing says “America” like restaurant parking lots being stuffed with dashers trying to scratch together a living, while people can think “going out to pick up my $20 Taco Bell order is not worth my time, so I’ll outsource it.”

Many of us are exhausted having worked to learn the truth of our own history on our own, but also having to learn the history of American white people that most white ppl refuse to learn.

That is partly why when you say “why are you surprised” it’s so annoying. Believe me, we are not surprised!

It kind of bugs me that there's no such thing as comprehensive, free family MDM. I'd love for there to be an easier way for me to remotely support at least the devices in the Apple ecosystem that are scattered throughout my family.
It is surprising to me that none of the major platforms have actual _parental control_ features so that we can limit the amount of time that our parents can spend online, and which apps they’re allowed to use. I don’t worry about my teenager’s use of the internet at all, just my octogenarian dad’s.

Not only kidnappers, but looters too.
ICE detain father shopping on Christmas Eve—then steal his family's groceries.

Then 3 agents divvy up his paid for food—taking what they want for themselves.

"Can I just get the wife's number to call and let her know?" woman asks.

"No, guess he should've complied," agent says.
