"Freedom of maneuver" is a military term designed to distinguish between pacified and hostile territory in an occupation setting, in case that helps inform you of how the federal government views American cities.
Military documents confirm that the LA operation today was a “show of presence” intended to send a message to LA residents about the power of the federal government.

After staging with armed soldiers and Border Patrol agents on horse, they packed up and left after a short walk.

The overriding ethos of the New York Times is that its core audience is in need of constant scolding, and I'm not sure how a publication survives that over the long yerm

It's funny how "America should be a fully integrated country with equal rights and opportunities for everyone" is "getting sucked into diversity" but "we need to resegregate America because Black people are too stupid to hold public office" is not
Speaking at a Texas Tribune Festival on Friday, former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg criticized the Democratic Party for failing to reach everyday Americans, arguing that it “got sucked in” to a conversation about identity. #TribFest25
Pete Buttigieg critiques Democrats for focus on identity
The former U.S. transportation secretary said the Democratic Party should focus more on issues gripping the country, such as health care and housing affordability.

HOW! after all the ways Summers has continually debased himself, how does CAP still bring him on for anything? Even before the latest "DO NOT REPEAT THIS INSIGHT" stuff.
NEW: Before the recent Epstein disclosures, Larry Summers was poised to lead the economic policy plank for the Democrats' "Project 2029" effort at the Center for American Progress. He signed off on a housing policy paper CAP was prepping for next week.

Maybe it's a minority opinion but I'm okay with "this person should be killed and here's how" being a hard line for moderation regardless of whether you're a well known author or comedian or not. If you allow famous people to say that then you also have to allow anon randos to say that. And no.

Trump 2028: if there's grass on the field, play ball!

(Does that fit on a hat?)
Is this what Trump wants Republicans to run on in 2026?

Ah yes, in Germany they called this "lebensraum"

But one thing that's important to note: this was their policy back during the campaign too even as people believed for some reason that they would only deport crininals
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

The "technically it's ephebophilia' has a strong appeal to the large portion of the evangelical base that wants teen girls married off to older men at pubescence
I see the “technically it’s ephebophelia” crowd is out today, so just a reminder that A) this is NOT a case where technically correct is the best kind of correct and B) the minute you say this, the gods dump you in the “irredeemable creeper” basket and wash their hands thoroughly after touching you.

It's really not OK from a political or moral standpoint that it took 10 years, many of them with Democrats in control of the WH or Congress and 3 prez campaigns against Trump, to get Epstein emails like this out in the open, @ryanlcooper.com writes.

It's hard to process the degree to which the Biden DOJ and major media institutions aggressively protected Trump on the Epstein situation.

One thing I keep screaming from the rooftops: "The border" and "Immigration" ARE SEPARATE ISSUES. You can be (and most Americans are!) pro-immigration but also desirous of a well-regulated border. We want our immigration process to be welcoming, generous, and orderly.
Some Dems and pundits overread the significance of Trump's win. They looked at dissatisfaction with the border and discerned a seismic cultural reaction to immigration levels inside the country. The former was real. The latter is a mirage.

and then there's, like, the former president of a university or white house counsel or something replying:

"You're totally right, and also I love you with all my heart."

Wilson was mocked for acknowledging that the cost of childcare is outrageous and her parents help her with that expense. But it turns out a majority of voters feel the same squeeze, liked her universal childcare plan, and voted accordingly.

The headline "Dems release emails that mention Trump" implies that Dems are pursuing something without evidence and that Trump is named in a not-important way, as opposed to what really matters, which is, Trump was at Epstein's with girls on more than one occasion, including hours alone, plus photos
Not to be nitpicky but these (Wapo/ WSJ) are bad headlines. Is the important news here "The Democrats released emails"? Or is the important news, you know, "Epstein says Trump spent hours with underage girl"? Put the important news in the headline!
