The food on VIA Rail puts Amtrak to shame.
The Canadian, as a route, is weird vs. The Empire Builder (Chicago to Seattle).
Specifically weird because you basically lose a day trying to escape the gravitational pull of the Great Lakes—and that’s not exactly the most scenic part of the route.

So where was I for the last week? Obviously Toronto - but dad and I have talked about taking the train across Canada for years.
So most of last week, we were on The Canadian, going from Toronto to Vancouver.
With select caveats, it was an amazing trip that I’d highly recommend if you like trains…
