Two things that come to mind as I see this
1) Important to remember that Zohran Mamdani's relatively conciliatory approach to the issue of Palestine and his joy-based attitude does not actually stem any of the criticism.
2) It's doubtful that anyone in Democratic leadership comes to his defense

For me at least, it's that I think she is a talented politician who is well-suited to being a bomb-thrower in the House, and losing that for an absolutely DOA Senate campaign is bad.

I kinda assumed that was what happened in the 2010s? Netflix must have noticed back in their DVD era that people were renting tonnes of LGBT+ movies that their local video store didn't carry, so they started making it? I've never seen this explicitly confirmed but it seemed obvious to me.
