The current day internet is already much more locked down and “kid safe” than it ever was before, and kids are no more “safe” than they ever were. Legislators do not understand this, and will make much more oppressive demands of these companies unless we continue to argue for our privacy rights.

—I do think it’s better for companies to set THEIR standard for how this works, rather than waiting for the hysterical and tech ignorant governing bodies to decide those standards for them. It isn’t great, for sure. But there’s a level of retaining control over the issue by getting in front, i guess

One thing I do know is that various governments are attempting to pass legislation that will require all social media companies to do something similar, only the legislative versions are ten times more draconian and invasive. I don’t love what Discord is doing, but at the same time—

One time at my firm, I went to A&M to recruit for our very small boutique firm and we set up next to the Big 4 tents and none of the fresh faced Aggies were interested in our pitch for only working 2000 hours in a year but the Big 4 employees the young students were trying to be recruited by were

well, the people who actually hurt kids are mostly family members and people in authority positions like priests and sports coaches and employers, so we can't possibly let them face consequences for what they did

this is another white immigrant story with lots of interesting details missing. What kind of visas did this guy have for the last 20 years? Why did he not apply for a green card until 2025? His story sounds similar to that of many undocumented people. It's not different just bc he's white.
