As a former migrant worker (not even a teenager at the time)- it’s important to notice what they’re all doing as he’s being people together thru song. They’re emerging from the fields, in solidarity. And the fields are no longer a place of exploitation/violence but *nature* supporting her people.

What I don't understand about the Olympics figure skating coverage is why everyone isn't talking about the fact that Ilia Malanin's free skate music features himself doing spoken word stuff, and that someone should have definitely stopped him from doing that.

I doubt this has happened before: 11 of this weekend's top 15 movies were made independently, inc. 4 of the top 5. There is nothing holding down overall grosses and attendance more than the fact that studios have forgotten how to do what they used to do, which is to fill the pipeline with movies.

i saw a teenager bust out a backflip at the Kendall Sq ice show in December, and the ice on that rink is not even good. it's REALLY not hard compared to elite level technical figure stuff
Lots of talking-out-of-asses about backflips today, so just to tidy up a few things:
1. The backflip was not banned because of Surya Bonaly. It'd been banned since the 70s due to danger.
2. It's not super difficult. It's a staple on the retired pros tour.
3. It's not worth technical points now.
