SO MUCH THIS. Reality TV rewards awful behavior, immorality, and deception. It literally rewards it. Scripted TV generally took care to dramatize the impact of bad behavior, both on the perpetrator and others.

One could argue that the death of well-written sitcoms and dramas, and the rise of reality TV, brought us to this point.
And ultimately, that all came down to TV that was cheap to produce but high on returns.
