This is an good point about what the Right thinks it’s doing, but I don’t think liberals (broadly construed) can afford to give up discourse about virtue.

Fundamentally what the churches try to sell is the ideal of a Christian faith that primarily requires faith as a form of consumption, which is why you have them basically have CCM + kitsch + anti-egalitarian + socially conservative ideal as the ideal form of Christian religious practice

I know this is a failure in me but I do basically despair of morally rehabilitating any of these people, and it makes me intensely depressed to know how many of my former students are certainly all the way on board with this shit
