There's bad, and there's "an entire paragraph about academics included in the press release to justify keeping him" bad. They're playing the school card!
News: UAB head coach Trent Dilfer will RETURN next season for a third year.

well I'm happy the last 4 years didn't see the funding and militarization of the police increase dramati—oh....
The reason the coup attempt in South Korea failed as quickly as it did is because South Koreans immediately rushed to the streets to say “we won’t let you do that” and force the military to decide whether they’d shoot their fellow citizens or not.

Important for us remember over the next 4 years.

Objectively the right move (firing Wink should happen too) but it makes the Ohio State game so much funnier somehow.
Michigan offensive coordinator Kirk Campbell has been fired by head coach Sherrone Moore. Tight ends coach Steve Casula will serve as the interim OC.

If you want to support creators, likes and replies from a place of genuine and respectful interest are lovely, but reskeeting is the move. Better yet, support their work with M O N E Y.

Which means that on those platforms, for me personally anyway, a lot of time begrudgingly putting up with reply guys I dislike for the sake of getting more eyes on my content. But because replies don't boost my stuff in the same way here, I can employ better boundaries for my own time and wellbeing.

One thing I love about bsky not having an algorithm is that creators here are less reliant on engagement in the form of comments & likes

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate and enjoy genuine replies! But on ig, twitter, reddit, replies boost our content in the algo and replying to them does too (cont)

By the way, there should never be fees attached to filing government paperwork necessary to restore the rights—identity, citizenship—that the government denied us.

It should be fucking FREE. 🥚
Hey, folks, can we figure out a way to get an immigration fee paid for one of my clients, whose AParents are not relinquishing her Certificate of Citizenship (not uncommon) Details here: adopteerightslaw.com/help-filing-...

And this is why authors are always asking you to preorder.
When I was a buyer at a large indie, my rule of thumb was:

1 preorder: huh, let me take a closer look at this one
2 preorders: we need to stock this book
3 preorders: we should order enough to face this out
4+ preorders: this should be on front-of-store display
More detail: When booksellers get pre-orders, it's a quantitative and qualitative signal that there is like *something here* about a book. The avalanche of new books out there is hard to communicate if you're not in the industry, and pre-orders are one of vanishingly few signals. It is a real thing!

I will never shut up about the continued need to KEEP MASKING. As a disabled, immunocompromised person who still gets dirty looks while masking everywhere: covid hasn't gone anywhere. I know that most people don't want to hear this and want people like me to put a cork in it but this is important
I still mask everywhere. I got two big boxes of N-95s cheap.

If you don't mask, the second best time to start again is tomorrow.
So. Bluesky.

Why don't y'all mask up in public anymore?

This is why visual rhetoric is so important. If you just glance at this chart, it'd be easy to come away with an impression of fairly equal racial ratios, which is not what the actual listed statistics imply
people keep showing me this chart to imply that an overwhelming amount of asian americans voted for trump and i do not get it this shows us as the second weakest supporters of trump by demo. like exit polls are trash but are you all not reading this right??

I am a former copywriter who had steady, mostly full-time work from 2007 (when I got my first full-time job as a PROOFREADER, you could still do that then) until just before the pandemic. I gave up and quit the industry in 2023 when it became clear AI would finish what the gig economy started.
That's the third recruiter I've talked to who has basically said, yeah, you're not going to be able to find work.

There is no work. The economy being even okay is a lie. I'm literally out of money and being told by people whose job it is to find jobs that there aren't any.

It's happening.

You might think it'd be easy for a state like CA to agree that pregnant women shouldn't be held in solitary confinement. Well, you'd be wrong. New for @bolts.bsky.social - the strange story of how an effort to officially abolish this practice ended up codifying it.
