A version of this has been the refrain for most of my earning years. They just find a new thing: you shouldn't have majored in humanities; you SHOULD have majored in humanities; you didn't learn to code; you DID learn to code; you need a PhD; you idiot, why did you get a Phd?, etc ad nauseum!
I know everyone is saying AI is doing this but I think it's the entire economy sucking shit that's doing this and they're just using AI as an excuse.

The FAA's 2025 edition of the Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge has a whole section on how to pick a flight school, but they did not foresee this.

the worst part is that for the people at the top "good at math"/sciencey is essentially a vibe one socially codes their way into by being minimally competent at informally discussing things actual math/science people do, unless (e.g.) Elon Musk has proven a theorem I didn't hear about.
I think the belief by the powerful that "people will put up with many things if you are excellent at math" is incredibly revealing in terms of understanding How We Got Here

My local grocery has already stopped stocking de cecco and replaced it with their house brand which is TERRIBLE, just godawful, like you boil it for hours and it stays raw and hard like a slimy leather shoe

Recently met someone who was very surprised to hear I didn’t use ChatGPT or any LLM.
I said my job depended on doing distinctive work. That was my selling point. If I started to sound like ChatGPT and turn out what it did, then how on earth could I justify doing it? What would that make me?
