The thing is. Imagine if anyone spoke to you like this in real life. There's approximately a 50% chance you'd punch them in the face. Every day is such an utter fucking disgrace to the presidency.

Look, I know we're all sick of hearing "if this had happened with any other president ..." but it's absolutely true and absolutely can't be forgotten.

For some reason, this nation gives this idiotic spoiled brat a free pass from things that would destroy the administration of any other person.
When asked if there was anything "incriminating" in Epstein's emails, Trump pointed a finger in a female reporter's face and snapped. 'Quiet. Quiet, Piggy.'

Watched again and the highlight may actually be her saying if Kat was nicer, she'd have called Trump to ask for lenience. Not great imo how fast people have learned "the president will pardon you if you suck up to him."
Yesterday, a Republican tried to give me holy water and Trump perfume because I’m “demonic.”

Extremely normal stuff coming from an extremely normal party.

It's not "retaliation" to punish everyone that willingly broke these institutions.
Trump will not just be four years of bad management. The culture of these organizations will be fucked for a long time. The pressure to retaliate and clean house will be strong, and no-one wants to work in a war zone.

On the whole this hasn't been a great year but imo that's all the more reason to recognize when we have wins that show we are not powerless.

Right now, the Trump Administration is basically getting routed and/or in retreat on several key fronts.

We are not powerless! We can do things! Consider-

Do journalists really want to put their names behind the claim that palling around with someone known to be a child sex predator—to say nothing of the months-long coverup we’ve all witnessed—does not constitute “wrongdoing”? Apparently yes they do.
Kate Bolduan: "The president has not been accused of any crimes or wrongdoing as it relates to Jeffrey Epstein or these files even with these emails being released. That's one thing we need to make clear. There's no accusations of any wrongdoing so far."

Wired included the only thing that matters here: if Trump actually meant this, he would just have DOJ release everything.
In an apparent policy shift, US president Donald Trump has called on House Republicans to vote for a bill that would force the Department of Justice to release the Epstein files.

As president, Trump could just order the Department of Justice to release the files, without needing a vote.

Trump knew he was going to lose this vote badly so he's trying to save face.

He should direct the DOJ to release all the Epstein files NOW without waiting for a vote in Congress.

Survivors have waited long enough.

If you work for one of these institutions you should feel endless shame, and when Democrats return to power they must ground them into a fine dust.
again I note how it’s fundamentally impossible to imagine the media going out of their way to pre-exonerate Hillary Clinton like this

"actually elite impunity should be for everyone" is what MAGA is all about
Prison abolition already exists for the rich and powerful. We have a rapist President, a rapist Supreme Court Justice, a rapist Secretary of Defense. The crimes they are committing now will never be held against them. they will sit with their families at thanksgiving and lead pleasant lives.
I‘m tired of being nice about this; “abolitionism” has had years to develop a non-idiot policy program and the best they’ve come up with is ”murder without even the pretense of juridical process.” And I am not nut-picking; this is all over abolitionist writing.

We have to make every last one of them pay and burn every remnant of corruption out of the country. We just can't survive as a country if any of these people walk away from this, and if we let the rot persist.
For thirty years I worked in the post-Soviet successor states in Central Asia and observed over and over again precisely the cycle that Bill Kristol describes. Corruption leads to authoritarianism, directly. The path is utterly predictable.
