Just a handful of paragraphs into this article, one of the Your Party members being interviewed lashes out at "postmodern identity politics", before embarking on a tedious recitation of the usual transphobic talking points - all the while scoffing at claims that Your Party is socially conservative.
"There is the great paradox of Your Party’s journey so far: chaos at the top, impressive grassroots efforts at the base. The large local meetings have been undermined by factionalism, reckless conduct and incompetence from those (on all ‘sides’) centrally involved in the project."
Reimagining YOUR PARTY: Six supporters give their upfront views on the changes needed... and fast.
A special pre-conference issue of THE LEFT LANE ahead of the party's founding conference this weekend in Liverpool.

So predictably, far from satisfying anyone, Mahmood’s proposals have opened up space even further to the right for people to indulge their most deranged anti-immigration obsessions. Where does she go from here? Seek to match them in a gruesome auction of cruelty she can never win?
Trevor Phillips proposes banning "remittances" (ie: imposing currency/exchange controls on international cash transfers by foreign nationals from Britain). He says this would disincentivise immigration, in a Times piece saying the Home Secretary needs to go [much] further

The "was Nigel Farage a racist in school?" stuff baffles me a little. Like, he is clearly a racist now, what do we gain from this?

This constant relitigating of whether Farage/Trump/etc are racists is exhausting given the overwhelming weight of evidence.
It reaffirms the Toni Morrison quote on the function of racism - to tire out everyone on having to prove & re-prove the 'if' at the expense of consequences. He is. So now what?

Labour is actively wasting our money for the sole purpose of being cruel to people who have done nothing wrong
Labour's anti-asylum policies are already fundamentally inhumane and discriminatory. Applying them retrospectively is pure cruelty though. It serves absolutely no purpose. Meanwhile it will increase the costs and bureaucracy of an already dysfunctional Home Office.

Notable there's not a single anti-trans "women's rights" organisation involved in the new campaign to end the criminalisation of abortion in Scotland.

But there are LGBTQ+ orgs.

It's almost as if one actually cares about women's rights and the other is just a hate campaign.

This is excellent. And if I might just add to the testimony, I went to a suburban grammar school not far from Dulwich College and the stories we're now hearing about Farage don't surprise me for a moment. This virulent racism is entirely familiar. It sits deep in the bones of conservative Britain.

Imagine, the door being slammed in your face

(I went through something close to this with the November 2015 changes)
At least 160,000 people have been granted refugee status over the past five years. It now seems they are intended to be caught by the Government’s plans to make refugees wait up to 20 years for settlement - even for those just months away from ILR

Abortion law urgently needs modernisation, to protect & uphold the needs, health & rights of all pregnant people. Everyone deserves to access healthcare without the fear of persecution and have autonomy over what they do with their bodies - it's high time that abortion was decriminalised in Scotland

I quite literally will never understand this take. I know that we always need *some* rental property available but the vast majority of people in Ireland want to own and we can't because of *drumroll please* landlords buying multiple properties to rent. Them leaving the market is what we want.

I've said before that Britain is afflicted by a triple-humiliation: loss of aristocracy; empire; political/media credibility. Brexit was essentially the last gasp of the British ruling class yelling to the Commonwealth, "Come on chaps, we're leaving," then marching out into the blizzard alone—nude.
I liked when they explained to boris Johnson what brexit would mean and he said oh god that is horrible you must strike a deal. They had to explain that was the deal

I do think it's worth addressing that the intellectual lodestar of this government is a gibbering idiot.
There are some truly unhinged bits in the piece about Glasman, as to be expected when dealing with Glasman, but seriously what the actual? That's...one hell of a conflation of terminology.
