Took 5 attempts to then beat Scylla but only 2 for the Infernal Beast, despite the fact I hate the torches

Tangent to this thread but with Tamar's post having reminded me, have I done my "I don't think it's currently possible for the SNP to win a majority" spiel on here? Basically, they can only afford to lose in 8 constituencies, and there's 8 I think are guaranteed to be won by other parties
Ironically I think the SNP winning a majority on a lower vote share by sweeping the FPTP seats under AMS might do it

Relatedly on "the possible, not merely the presumed", that's why Scottish Labour are currently at risk of such a dire result: they presumed they'd always dominate the FPTP side of the Holyrood system and did not consider the possibility the SNP would crack it.
Also when people say this you still see quite a lot of "Reform support will drop nearer to the time" or "tactical voting will stop them" cope and even if one or both of those are true that's still a sign of a deeply unwell voting system! You need to account for the possible, not merely the presumed!
our current system has a strong chance of putting a far-right government in complete power with about a quarter of the vote. electoral reform *must* be a Labour priority. FPTP is simply not set up to deal with a system with five competitive parties.
