A leftist is someone who blames the Democratic Party (and the country overall) for their own project's electoral/policy shortcomings and have become fully invested in punishing both, without any care as to who that affects or what collateral damage that inflicts.
My current feeling:

A liberal is someone whose goal is to make progressive policies happen using the tools at hand.

A leftist is someone who wants to be heard loudly complaining that those policies don’t already exist, and then make them impossible by actively sabotaging the non-fascist party.

Sorry, but at no point in time was SCOTUS going to allow Trump to be prosecuted before the 2024 election.

I'm not saying the DOJ did everything perfectly or even *well*, but if someone thought maximalist moves could have resulted in a Disqualified Trump In Prison over Jan 6 in, say, 2021, well...
As was obvious and I lost my mind about throughout 2021 but its all moot now isn't it

This is where I'm at. With as many i's dotted and t's crossed as we got, and they still were able to play the obstruction game to a T, how much do we think they'd have been able to pull with a much looser case? Why can't we hold the SCOTUS and corrupt judges like Cannon as the actual villains here?

Multi-millionaire George Stephanopoulos would suffer no economic hardship if he resigned. Yet he said nothing when ABC caved to Trump. The courage of Ann Telnaes, with far less money but way more integrity, is the rarest of things in Beltway Media.

Seriously. I sue drug companies, you don't have to tell me they suck, nor explain to me the risks of pharmaceuticals.

But vaccines are different, they're like stealing fire from the Gods and burning plagues with it. Their benefit/risk ratio is downright magical.

Correct. I have updated my beliefs about the political landscape with the understanding that the majority of those who label themselves as "leftist" are not actually so, and those of us who wish to actually *solve* problems are few and far between.

It certainly explains a lot about US elections.

It is truly wild that it is estimated that more than 20 million people died of Covid and the prevailing vibe is that the world overreacted. That is an astonishing toll! More people died of Covid in the US than in the Civil War. www.pbs.org/newshour/hea...

Yes if Democrats (esp a president) are going to go out of their way to specifically cater to one or more interest groups, it is incumbent upon those groups to forcefully advocate for the president/party who catered to them
We had a president who delivered more for the left than anybody since the 60s and we saw huge drop off/disinterest. It’s now fair to lash out at those
orgs and groups that claimed to speak for these voters and probe why they didn’t and couldn’t rally them?

An unspoken but clear subtext of the in-house dislike of Biden, especially among leftists and the young people they appeal to, was resentment that Biden beat Trump in 2020 and Bernie didn't.
I think pretty definitionally upper class zoomers being assholes about and to Biden was a big part of his low standing.
this was, no joke, an enormous and essential component of anti-Biden sentiment

The American media, political, and intellectual establishment quite literally does believe that Trump winning the 2024 election legitimatizes anything he did before that, because to believe otherwise would threaten the sanctity of the American tradition.
Margaret Brennan appears to suggest that Jan 6 insurrectionists should get pardoned by Trump because they're "white collar workers, small business owners" who "didn't necessarily have a criminal record."
