The fact that a lot of people on this website apparently feel very strongly that that being rude to the employees of people you don’t like is both necessary and virtuous has some explanatory power
Y’all, don’t be fucking dicks to staffers, it is neither nice nor particularly productive
You ever call a senator's office and ask the staffer who picks up what it's like to work for someone without a spine?

10/10 recommend.

Lawrence: With Trump's shutdown ending, Dems are closer than ever to forcing Epstein files release
As five more Senate Democrats joined Republicans to pass a compromise bill to end the shutdown, MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell details how Speaker Johnson is the “big loser in this compromise” because not...

I'm sorry... what exactly are they supposed to DO here when Rs hold all 3 branches of govt?

I'm sick to death of this magical thinking bullshit that there is some secret button Dems aren't pushing that lets them pass legislation or stall an R majority that doesn't NEED them to pass legislation.

Every time I ask the question "what are they supposed to do", I get a response of shit they are already doing.

At what point do you axe grinders admit that you are talking out of your ass from a place of grievance and not fact?

At what point do you decide to pay attention to the world around you?

This, this, fucking *this*.

Thank god more people are starting to say these common sense things! Because a hell of a lot of supremely dishonest folks have decided falsely smearing Dems is more important than dealing with How Things Work.
Schumer led Senate Democrats in fighting Trump over healthcare, period.

If you think Senate leaders can control members of their caucus, you don’t know much about the Senate. And before you say “McConnell,” remember why we still have the ACA when Trump and McConnell wanted it gone.

Folks don't seem to remember this for some reason, but it's true!
This kind of thing happened to McConnell, too. In 2013 a similar "Gang of Eight", which included four Republicans, helped write and pass immigration reform in the Senate.

And this, oddly.

It's weird to frame Dem Senate leadership as lacking when Republicans keep breaking ranks to help Dems pass things.
And 5 R senators defected against Thune just last week to pass dem legislation outlawing Brazil tariffs.

And it can also be done without *attacking Democrats as a Party*.

Another important aspect of the Mamdani campaign that folks kinda wanna paper over for some reason!
This point absolutely correct and I will add that Mamdani demonstrates that an insurgency, even one with real moral clarity and anger at the status quo, can still be cheerful and inviting.

This is only a contrarian view on a website that has full on lost its mind.
A bit of a contrarian view. Democrats likely won't pay a price for this in the midterms. The American memory is quite short on political machinations. But Republicans are about to learn a central tenet of American politics: You cannot give people a benefit and then take it away.

Democrats already lost, bud, they don't have control of the House, the Senate, SCOTUS, or the Presidency.

You're literally living through what you claim to want, yet you're still unable to make your ideas come to pass! Why is that? Dems just didn't lose *enough*?

If all you're doing is bashing Democrats, I'm just going to unfollow you, because you're not a serious person, and you're not helping, and you're just mindlessly parroting tired Anti-Dem stereotypes and propaganda.

Focus your venting and ire on the GOP where it belongs. THEY did all this. Not Dems.

Correct.

But some are now using Schumer's March stance as evidence for *this* round.

Because *reasons*.
And like...Schumer quite openly backed the deal in March in a way he didn't do yesterday, didn't he?

It also relies on some really gross opinions about Senate Dems in general like "they all secretly love Republicans" and it's like "they did the longest shutdown in US history, if they loved the GOP that much they could have just voted for cloture then."

What's wild to me is that people are somehow saying that Schumer totally orchestrated everything despite Jeffries specifically *not naming Schumer as the target of his frustration*.

This is significant because *Jeffries specifically blamed Schumer for folding, in public, back in March*.
so today I've seen Chuck Schumer called a "Kapo" a "baby killer" and a "genocide apologist" all because of a bill he does not support and didn't vote for....

but you know... it has nothing to do with him being Jewish......

I think it's because some of the people who are mad at the cavers are saying "primary all Dems" and constructing elaborate antisemitic conspiracy theories.

And pushback against that is pretty minimal for some reason.
Why is the "we must be united!" hectoring directed at people who are mad at the Cavers and not to the Cavers? Everyone who's mad was united, then the Cave Caucus walked across the aisle and betrayed what the public had been told was the Dem position.
The sooner we get past internal recriminations and back to fighting united, the better off we all are — the likelier our victory next November.

I think you can both be:

A.) Mad at the Cavers

B.) Call out demands for primarying *all* Dem electeds (even, implicitly, Dems who never supported the cave) as toxic wrecker shit that has nothing to do with the ACA subsidies or the like.

If you think of Republicans as forces of nature, you’re accepting that they’re evil and we can’t do anything. Democrats do not have the power to stop them as we didn’t give them the power. Republicans are people, evil people and that means attacking them.

I really do think that most Americans think the GOP and GOP are unmovable objects that cannot be changed by public opinion so trying to change them gets people too depressed but they don't understand how to process that and not take all that unprocessed rage out on Democrats.
