Why does your, and Platner’s, idea of listening and rehabilitating men require giving them Senate seats?

This is "journalists" admitting they do not do journalism, but instead are just stenographers. But let me add one thing: the post is still a lie, because the news media *does not* cover stories when the Democratic party "takes official actions". The stenography service is offered only to the GOP.

There is a very good reason why the thing I say most consistently about situations like this is "the violent rhetoric policy is my least favorite policy to write and enforce, and the policy that creates the most upheaval among the userbase when it is applied"!
"bluesky will suspend you for anything vaguely resembling a death threat" is maybe the single most consistent moderation policy they have I don't know why anyone is surprised by this one

yes, even if it's a reference to song lyrics

Grijalva just signed the Epstein discharge petition.

It now has the 218 signatures necessary to start the clock that will, in a few weeks, trigger floor votes on the underlying bill to require release of the full Epstein files.

There are no GOOD options. There are only what may or may not be less-bad options, depending on where you're standing. And again, the people who RELISHED the idea of "teaching Dems a lesson" on the backs of marginalized people have no moral authority that I recognize.

Look we all want free stuff but as we know- talk is cheap. The regressives hardly have an effective governing track record. As a matter of fact- they loathe competency. But legislation feeds babies, bs doesn’t. Insta clicks don’t pay the rent. Real assistance does. The kind Dems provide - not bs

I just don't think people understand just how much their decision to smear the Democratic nominees in 2024 have negatively impacted Dems' ability to get *anything* positive done for the next 3 years.

People are gassing themselves up with absolute nonsense.

I'll also note that folks like Jeong are *fucking lying* because getting starving children & elderly folks a full year of fully funded SNAP benefits, school lunches & breakfasts, summer EBT, WIC, & RIF'd employees their jobs with back pay is not "making a mockery" of anything.
People were ready to suffer a LOT to make fascists suffer a LITTLE?

It's easy to say "I was gonna work a food bank shift" when you're getting paid & not on SNAP; that's not suffering

& how would the fascists suffer a little?

Trump's golfing & having parties; he's not suffering, none of them are

Democrats got stuff they never would have given them. They eliminated the snap thing as a bribery tool and now they can't use it in January and it's only a 2-month extension. It's kind of crazy actually because none of this stuff benefits republicans at all. None of it. You're all crazy lol.

"Yes, Nazis are bad,"

So say it more for your asshole colleagues. Because they seem to have forgotten that Nazis even exist as anything other than an immutable force of nature that Dems fail to stop, like house floods that Dems need to be blamed for because you won't give them enough sandbags.

So, the problem with this approach, the idea of "only scream at Dems, because they'll listen" without putting more pressure on the GOP, means the only thing people ever see is the rage at Dems, and the takeaway becomes "Dems must be the only real problem because everyone hates them"
Yep. "Boys will be boys" apathy and only attacking a side you see as "receptive" does nothing but send the message at the side being attacked is the only problem. You don't protest to convince the protest targets directly. You protest to direct public anger at the targets, and let that persuade

People who really want impeachment could work on getting 67 elected Ds in the Senate (maybe 68 because it's a while before Fetterman's seat is up).

Instead, they want to primary every Democrat for something 7 Ds and 1 Independent Senator did, and almost all of them were from purple states

And isn't that the crux of the problem? Learn to manage your goddamned emotions, and stop letting "vibes" rule you to the point that you reject facts, logic, reason, and decency.

Just repugnant.I blocked that one.

In Oregon, SNAP benefits for November are available and won’t be taken away.

If you have questions, please check with Oregon Department of Human Services.

If you have other needs, like housing or utility costs, because you had to stretch to pay for food last week, please call @211info.bsky.social.

I want dems to help stop the gop from: starving kids to death and forcing people to work without pay and firing people for fun and destroying the aca. And i also know we can't do all of that at once because white voters ensured repubs have power. And i want the courts to function. 3/4 now is a win

So if you are broadcasting every day "DEM BAD" + assume that everyone understands "GOP much worse"?
You are not helping the situation.
You are merely reinforcing the idea that politics is hopeless and it is pointless to participate.
Think about the effects of your output on the general atmosphere.

Yeah, this is another thing that kinda annoyed me, I watched people go from "ACA subsidies are a stupid reason to fight" followed by "HOW DARE YOU NOT GET ACA SUBSIDIES????"

bsky.app/profile/dutc...
I was getting pretty incensed at all the obviously well off larger accounts on here that are neither federal employees, SNAP recipients, or depending on the ACA for their insurance.

The same accounts that thought fighting over the ACA was bs and are now saying it was the most important thing ever.

This is probably closest to my thinking as well. The problem with these situations is that there's no clean win. Could we have forced ACA subsidies since the GOP/Trump were being blamed? Maybe, but the harms would mount and no guarantee.

This isn't the best possible win, but it's "a" win.

People want Democrats to hit the off button that America refused to push last November when it mattered.
I learned a lot tonight, namely that a critical mass of people on my side had no clear idea what they actually wanted out of this beyond hopes that if the shutdown broke enough stuff, they'd get whatever was on their wishlist, and their preferred time horizon was "indefinite."

Republicans voted to originally kill the ACA subsidies in their Bad Betrayal Bill. 100% of Democrats voted against it. It still passed.

Republicans voted to completely repeal the ACA 70+ times (failing thanks to Dem solidarity).

Your healthcare costs skyrocketing is ENTIRELY due to the GOP.
