No sweat. I made an overstatement, and was glad to have it corrected by someone more knowledgeable. (Still doesn't justify the people spewing that bile at Schumer. 😠)

Thanks for the clarification. I do expect Schumer has pretty thick hide by now.
There's always been a tension between "truth" and "free expression." Social media is exacerbating that, because it weights malice and bullshit the same as fact. I don't know what the remedy would be.

OTOH explanations from qualified people were quickly forthcoming, for those who were paying attention. It was never necessary to be mad at Justice Jackson.

The air is thick with lawsuits and countersuits and stays and stays of stays and endless other procedures that most laypeople have no reason ever to have heard of. By the time you've reached some backflip quintuple negative filing, it's understandable to not know what the hell the score is.

"Retarded?" By what? Oh, I see, you meant to use a slur.
And you're blaming the Democrats....for *being* blamed. Right. Keep running, you'll catch your tail at some point. I warn you, though, it will hurt when you do.

She and the commenters there are very lucky that US libel law allows them to utter any filth they want about a public figure. (This is something that needs a rethink. New rule: Prove it, shut up, or get sued. Your choice.)
I just preemptively blocked every last vicious one of them.

How about "the Democrats did the best they could to choose the least damaging option of the ones available, and don't deserve a hundredth of the criticism they're receiving, much less the hostility and abusive quality of that criticism"

The White House was immediately surrounded by picket lines of people screaming "Democide Don!" and "Tyrant Trump!"
Oh, wait, no, that didn't happen. The picketers were too busy for that. Screaming abuse at Kamala Harris, Chuck Schumer, and Hakeem Jeffries at their book events was more important.

The city buses here have computerized marquees that show upcoming stops and other info. I was riding one day when I saw the sign apparently lose reference and suddenly display nothing but a row of ??????????
Seemed about right, all things considered

I just don't think people understand just how much their decision to smear the Democratic nominees in 2024 have negatively impacted Dems' ability to get *anything* positive done for the next 3 years.
People are gassing themselves up with absolute nonsense.

4th grade is probably a little early. I want youngsters--hell, the general public--to see what's actually required. How the councilors treat each other. How patient even the ones you don't like can be, in the face of clearly foolish or ignorant testimony.

From middle school up, civics classes should regularly attend sessions of governing bodies--city council, county council, school board, etc. And hold mock council meetings, analogous to mock trials.
And don't get me started about built-world infrastructure education.

"CPAC?" Are you alleging that Schumer is paid by the Conservative Political Action Conference? The wingnut org?
You may have meant "AIPAC?" That's the standard leftist antisemitic dogwhistle.
At least keep your conspiracies straight.

My docs told me the biggest post-op dangers were 1) infection, and 2) dislocation. The latter means you get to go back onto the table for a repair, and the resulting prolongation of your recovery.
(Luckily, I managed to avoid both of those events)

I can’t be a pessimist because I am alive. To be a pessimist means that you have agreed that human life is an academic matter. So, I am forced to be an optimist. I am forced to believe that we can survive, whatever we must survive.
