Just had a follower tell me "Nothing you say will change how I FEEL!"

And isn't that the crux of the problem? Learn to manage your goddamned emotions, and stop letting "vibes" rule you to the point that you reject facts, logic, reason, and decency.

Just repugnant.I blocked that one.

In Oregon, SNAP benefits for November are available and won’t be taken away.

If you have questions, please check with Oregon Department of Human Services.

If you have other needs, like housing or utility costs, because you had to stretch to pay for food last week, please call @211info.bsky.social.

I want dems to help stop the gop from: starving kids to death and forcing people to work without pay and firing people for fun and destroying the aca. And i also know we can't do all of that at once because white voters ensured repubs have power. And i want the courts to function. 3/4 now is a win

So if you are broadcasting every day "DEM BAD" + assume that everyone understands "GOP much worse"?
You are not helping the situation.
You are merely reinforcing the idea that politics is hopeless and it is pointless to participate.
Think about the effects of your output on the general atmosphere.

Yeah, this is another thing that kinda annoyed me, I watched people go from "ACA subsidies are a stupid reason to fight" followed by "HOW DARE YOU NOT GET ACA SUBSIDIES????"

bsky.app/profile/dutc...
I was getting pretty incensed at all the obviously well off larger accounts on here that are neither federal employees, SNAP recipients, or depending on the ACA for their insurance.

The same accounts that thought fighting over the ACA was bs and are now saying it was the most important thing ever.

This is probably closest to my thinking as well. The problem with these situations is that there's no clean win. Could we have forced ACA subsidies since the GOP/Trump were being blamed? Maybe, but the harms would mount and no guarantee.

This isn't the best possible win, but it's "a" win.

People want Democrats to hit the off button that America refused to push last November when it mattered.
I learned a lot tonight, namely that a critical mass of people on my side had no clear idea what they actually wanted out of this beyond hopes that if the shutdown broke enough stuff, they'd get whatever was on their wishlist, and their preferred time horizon was "indefinite."

The fact remains that Republicans have control of our entire government and are weak as hell against Trump and Trump doesn’t give a fuck about anyone but himself.

Republicans voted to originally kill the ACA subsidies in their Bad Betrayal Bill. 100% of Democrats voted against it. It still passed.

Republicans voted to completely repeal the ACA 70+ times (failing thanks to Dem solidarity).

Your healthcare costs skyrocketing is ENTIRELY due to the GOP.

Some of us still shop at Target and Amazon, stream Hulu, jam R. Kelly, plan Black Friday runs, watch the NFL, and can’t go a day without talking to MAGA relatives yet we expect hundreds of thousands of workers to keep sacrificing their paychecks during a shutdown. But we screaming about caving.

Which is why dems got repubs to pass a new bill with huge concessions to help end the shutdown. Of course the House now has to reopen to try to pass it. Will Johnson risk having to swear in the AZ Dem? Or will he force the shutdown to continue?

hostage negotiators will generally let kidnappers get some stuff in exchange for not killing hostages

that doesn’t mean they are weak

hostage negotiators also are aware they are dealing with terrorists who don’t keep their word

reluctantly trying to save hostages does not mean they are deluding themselves that hostage takers are good people

Senate Dems voting for this aren't "cowardly fucks". They are voting for harm reduction for 7 weeks and to force the House back into session or own the shutdown. Anyone shitting on dems instead of repubs is part of the problem. Don't fall for this disinfo.
This is an important note, please look beyond the cowardly fucks that are the Democrats voting for this.

Now the House has to vote...and it's currently not in session because Johnson won't seat someone because of Epstein.

This is bad, but it's all bad, keep pushing.

I think it's a mix of
1) them having held out for so long
2) it not being the usual suspects voting yes here
3) them getting SOMETHING out of it (even if not enough to many)
4) this CR only being through January
5) more people being seriously hurt by the shutdown than last time

Like, a CR thru January that stops kids from starving over the holidays, and also forces the House back into session to seat Grijalva, and also gives us a straight up or down vote on ACA subsidies, seems about as good an outcome as one can get when the voters chose to push one out of power
It’s becoming pretty clear that big “resister” type accounts and the deeply stupid people who lap up their droppings will frame any government reopening as Dems “caving”

Even when Dems get the ACA subsidies they’re after, and then kick it to the House, which will center the Epstein threat again.

Yes, yes, "insane". It fully funds all mandatory nutrition programs for fiscal 2026 including SNAP, School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, & Summer EBT; also fully funds WIC w/$8.2 billion, a $603 million increase over fy 2025. Meanwhile, gov't opens, House votes no, & GOP is still blamed.
