Come on now, you can't expect people to learn the full story before getting mad about it. This is the internet, they've got assumptions to make, priors to confirm, and virtue to display.

Journalistic ethics are an unenforceable code of honor that journalists are eager and willing to admit that they will only abide when situationally convenient, and that there are no punishments for breaking.

All you really need to know about Fitters’s ethics & judgement as a reporter:
The emails that you’re seeing now are news in themselves, but that’s because of how they’re coming out—a congressional committee released them—& the context in which they’re being viewed. A guy emailing a reporter talking about old girlfriends or saying someone is “dirty” is not a whole news story.

I’d love for someone to grab the ear of MacKenzie Scott & pitch the establishment of a journalist association, membership in which would allow you to use an acronym after your name like Journaltor®. Why? Members would abide by a strict ethical code or risk being kicked out. Make it an honor.

As god as my witness, I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say less than 5% of the American electorate thinks remotely seriously about anything not directly impacting them. In fact, a bad faith unwillingness to do so is a top source of viral attacks, simplistic slop answers, MAGA & QAnon.
Also most voters have just never thought remotely seriously about policy. “Should we get rid of illegal immigrants? Well, of course; they’re illegal!” There’s nothing deeper than that going on until they start seeing what that actually entails.
Some Dems and pundits overread the significance of Trump's win. They looked at dissatisfaction with the border and discerned a seismic cultural reaction to immigration levels inside the country. The former was real. The latter is a mirage.

I’m constantly disappointed by Democrats, BUT I SUPPORT THEM.

So if this is your general take, block me now.

every few years it's revealed that the NYT was sitting on information about some horrific thing that public knowledge of would have changed the country's course and for some reason a ton of people still give them money. you can play those games on other sites

It’s been said repeatedly, yet today’s news makes it worth continuing to repeat the observation:

Every accusation by Republicans is an admission. They see awful, scamming, misogynist predators everywhere because they can only imagine others like themselves… awful, scamming, misogynist predators.

Can we circle back to the part where the NY Times never disclosed that they have incriminating information on Donald Trump from sent by Epstein that's been sitting on their email servers for nearly a decade?
Stuff like this makes me wonder why there hasn't been any reporting about Trump having affairs during his presidencies

I think this could have legs.

IF YOU’RE NOT SCARED.
People were crushed to death at the The Who concert in December, 1969 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Not a fan of Ice, but joking about joking about crushing people is distasteful.

The whole ‘Democratic Senators are going to get primaried in 2026 because of the November re-opening’ is schtick by people who haven’t bothered to ask who is running & why their race would be impacted.
November 11, 2025 at 4:40 PM
A bold prediction: NONE of the senators running for re-election in 2026 are going to be face *serious* primary challenges.
(Senators Booker, Coons, Hickenlooper, Luján, Markey, Merkley, Ossoff, Reed, & Warner)
primaries of sitting senators basically don’t happen in this country, especially on the Dem side

but these are unprecedented times and, well, I’m not counting them out

certainly in open primaries I’d expect more fighting-oriented leftist candidates to have a much better shot than people think

Putting my cards on the table… i have no idea if this is a good end to the shutdown for Democrats.

We were never going to get the ACA subsidies. I’m not sure this ever would have ended with ‘victory’. But having Trump take his own victory lap (delusional or not), feels like shit.

I’m not sure about the specifics and those will matter to me. BUT I’m also pretty confident after reading dozens of posts on the putative deal that 99% of the anger is based on assumptions & presumptions with zero grounding in reality. it could suck! or not! but that’s irrelevant to the reaction.
November 9, 2025 at 10:15 PM
Everyone wants an end to the shutdown. The issue is ‘on what terms?’ W/o knowing the EXACT terms, it’s silly to hyperventilate EVEN IF Democrats are considering voting for cloture.
Semafor reports the same story - "Deal to reopen government starts to come together" - but while they quote 3 GOP Senators, they have no Dems on the record. Mullin and Rounds say things like "It’s just a matter of one or two things to be worked out". No specifics. 3/

Deal to reopen government starts to come together in Senate
It’s still unclear what promises Republicans will make Democrats on health care or how fast Congress can pass the agreement.
