Trying to keep the politics reposts from overwhelming the usual stew of film, food, art, science, books, & cats (w/ occasional French) and mostly failing at the moment.

This is the only pleasant surprise I’ve gotten via an AM Bsky perusal in a while, and it’s a true Mandela effect, because I SWEAR I’d seen this show was cancelled after its first delightful season.
Hi, the new season of “A Man on the Inside,” a TV show I worked on, hits Netflix today. Ted Danson is in it! Also Mary Steenburgen, Gary Cole, Max Greenfield, David Strathairn, Lisa Gilroy, Stephanie Beatriz, Jason Mantzoukas, and many more funny people. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Just need to point out that the people who readily cry “False flag!” over mass shootings and January 6th are members of the same group that most often stage attacks because liberals and leftists will not reliably get violent when provoked repeatedly.
SCOOP — A former staffer for Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ), Natalie Green, 26, was charged today for falsely reporting she was attacked by 3 men who wrote "TRUMP WHORE" on her stomach bc of her job. It was staged by her + a friend.

Van Drew isn't named in the complaint but I've confirmed w/ his office.

A New Jersey woman was charged with conspiring and falsely reporting to law enforcement that she had been violently assaulted with a firearm due to her employment with a federal official.

This exercise is both fun and really illuminating about how TV works, even if you think you know a lot about it.

I will say, as I've talked about before, it is a crime how scrawny MAD MEN's coaching tree is/was.
For The Ringer, I wrote about the best TV coaching trees, from series that did the best job of finding and nurturing writers and/or directors who would go on to make great shows of their own:
Which TV Show Has the Best Coaching Tree?
Vince Gilligan is eternal proof of the strength of the ‘X-Files’ writers room. But frankly, that room has a ton of competition across television history.

Engagement on our updates re: ICE kidnappings/fed siege of Los Angeles is significantly lower on Bluesky compared to Twitter. Do ppl on here not care about LA anymore? Are feeds being taken over by liberal commentators? What's going on?

Community members on the ground can't do it all. We need help.
The feds are escalating in Los Angeles. We've seen record high kidnappings and our communities are under attack. The media focus on LA has died down so electeds don't feel the need to even feign opposition.

People are out here fighting. We need all of us. Join the struggle. Defend your neighbors.

Whatever the Saudis paid to get the President of the US to sit in the Oval Office with MBS and freakin' run interference for their dismembering of a journalist working for an American newspaper . . . man. I'm sure they think it was worth it.

You always hear the rationale that if a reporter stood up to Trump, they'd be kicked off the plane/out of the briefing, etc. Which means what? That they'd no longer be present for something that's already widely disseminated without their help? They trade dignity and integrity for access to nothing.
This is not a job any news organization gives to its best or bravest or strongest reporters.
The fact that no one in the room stood up for her says a lot about how we got here bsky.app/profile/pale...

as a reporter, the part of this that i’ve simply never understood is how the next person to ask a question when he does something like this doesn’t simply repeat the question that set him off. it’s not just solidarity with your colleague, it’s an important question that remains worth asking
I’m not going to pretend it’s easy to say something in the moment when you witness the president do this and you’re aboard Air Force One with all the uniformed officers and secret service and fancy wood accents, but this is really an instance where you should. people.com/donald-trump...
