MAKE ME BETTER is my forthcoming novel about the horrors of community. It is about cults, wellness, control, and the things we will do to escape grief.

Sometimes it hurts to grow -- but your community believes that you can be made pure.

It comes out in May.

Highland cattle are famous for their ability to "disco nap". Normally these brief, efficient sleeps will last between three and twenty minutes, deploying a variety of objects as pillows, including moorland boulders, cars or any particularly large dog or sheep who happens to be nearby.

In the 1890s, Gifford Pinchot — often hailed as America's first serious forest conservationist — went on a quest to make forests that could be tightly controlled. In doing so, Marin Scotten writes, he helped birth both the American suburb and a new age of wildfires.

The Suburbs Sprawl on a Grave of Wildfire
How the crusade against nature made — and perhaps doomed — American development.

Jean Shaheen is a spineless clown, but also New Hampshire is full of wealthy retired tax exiles from Massachusetts who like to cosplay as Democrats

There are obviously a ton of normal working-class and low income people in NH too, she just doesn’t listen to them bc guess who her donors mainly are
Shaheen: "When I talk to my constituents in New Hampshire, you know what they say to me? They say, 'Why can't you all just work together to address the problems that are facing this country?'"

Air traffic control issues in Boston are getting wild. Per @flightradar24.com lots are getting diverted, including at least two that had to abort landings at the last minute.

IRELAND: These folks make GORGEOUS slate place mats edged in copper leaf—and one of the really fun things about slate is you can write on it with chalk, which delights small children (what design will be under their plate today?) and works great to indicate who sits where at a dinner party

I will not support a deal that does nothing to make health care more affordable.

We are in a health care emergency. A simple one-year extension of these tax credits would cost less than Donald Trump’s $40 billion bailout for Argentina.

A vote for this bill is a mistake.

Dear Democratic Senators: if you vote for this selling out of the ACA it will be the end of your careers. Depend upon it. You are there to defend this country against Trump and the fascists, not collude with them. If you become Quislings, you will forever REMAIN Quislings

This may be a long shot but: Is anyone on here an expert the laws relating to Illinois non-profit corporations? I'm particularly interested in what information on such groups the public is entitled to.

I searched here and the results are pretty threadbare (no officers list, no documents, etc.):
