Trying to keep the politics reposts from overwhelming the usual stew of film, food, art, science, books, & cats (w/ occasional French) and mostly failing at the moment.

Support libraries, [⬛️⬛️] Nazis, and eschew AI "art" wherever and whenever you can
Huh. The OED’s last dead tree edition is less than definitive

And then there's this model of the set- a *fully built permanent environment*. It's *amazing.*

The main flaw in her argument is that there seems to be no awareness that the Lohan "original" is already a remake of the Jodie Foster version from the 70s, which was an adaptation of a popular book- and apparently there were others along the way! So it's just a particularly terrible example.

This came from a tweet lauding Pamela Anderson (and yes, good for her!), but the RT/ MC combo score here is *legitimately* very strong, not just an "everyone thought it was a hair over mid."

It looks like they sent a T Rex and a troll through the machine from The Fly

At the Grand Park rally to free David Huerta in DTLA. Sizable crowd ;at least double what was in this photo) probably smaller than it would be if all the exits off the 101 weren’t closed (per a friend who tried to drive down).

Ha ha yeah, the only time I ever did was the couple of weeks I got really into this recipe from the Dinner Party Download:

Man, Corbet is really cruising fast into "THIS fuckin' guy" territory.

Big "say what you will about Hitchcock, BUT...!" vibes here.

Seems like BS to me! The "park" is wider, but the max length here is also encompassing stuff like that cafe.

Ooooh, they did the original 101 Dalmations illustrations, and they're WONDERFUL. This is the only one I screenshot that has a cat it in, I think.

I am so so SO sorry to say that the Cire Trudon Abd El Kader is just unfairly and unreasonably good, but when the euro is lowish, it IS at least a bit cheaper to buy them in France.

This is the Incredibly friendly cat I met canvassing this weekend! She DEMANDED pets and then a lap/ cuddle.

Love this thread and enthusiasm from one of our better Senators (and hope this kind of thing leads to more politicians active here instead of the erstwhile Twitter)!

(I voted and was told my ballot was counted two weeks ago-love L.A. and CA’s competence in this!)

I love L.A. County's. We've gone from 13 languages to 18!

There was just the absolute barest hint of some color in the sky when I was walking to a friend's house earlier tonight, enough that I wasn't sure I was seeing it until I ramped up the saturation. But this is technically an aurora visible via camera inside Los Angeles.

I saw a reasonably fresh L.A. county "I voted!" sticker in a Paris Metro last fall, and was both perplexed and amused imagining how it got there- L.A. is all absentee now and I assume that includes foreign registrants, but there's a weird degree of intentionality to this.

I noticed this on the Criterion Channel and watched on a whim- it's... great?? I'm not really a slow cinema person per se, but the shot compositions are *immaculate.* Just constant subtle beauty. Similar, in a way, to Falling Leaves, but a different kind of frame. www.cinemaguild.com/theatrical/h...
