also these robots aren't named "sandra" or "valerie" and referring to them as that is manipulative! they should AT BEST get star wars names of random letters and numbers
It is impossible to assault a robot and people who interfere with or damage property are not assailants.

this is the most patriotic i’ve felt in months
collapsing hyperpower simultaneously entertains and distresses itself with stupendous cast of thousands real-time multi-media immanent self-critique of its own necropolitics, punctuated by Blue Angels fly-bys and ads for online gambling, AI scams, cars, and dick pills

depends how you identify the modern conservative premise but “we need our violent, lawless dickheads to stop all the worse ones on the other side” is both fairly explicitly trumpist, and has never really gone out of style in pop culture. was especially pronounced in stuff like the walking dead
What’s the last broadly popular piece of culture that has modern conservative premises at its heart? I really genuinely have trouble thinking of what it could be.

found myself asking “what time is the super bowl” which reminded me that i wrote about that question and the existential crisis it evokes in me several years ago and i still think i did a good job with it www.texasmonthly.com/arts-enterta...

i’m not visually disabled but my wife is and if you need help figuring out what to write for alt text, just imagine you’re telling her what’s in the picture so she can understand the post. “handshake meme, one side says ‘salt’ other says ‘evelyn normielib,’ they meet at ‘fuck ice’.” or whatever
Alt text was on maybe 75% of Bsky images when I first joined. Accessibility is still the right thing to do.

You can hit the gear on the left of yr screen, click accessibility, and get Bsky to remind u to use alt text. It's pretty easy ❤️

the epstein files reveal that at the highest levels of society, men with power over women often use that power to do the same things that men with power over women do at every other level. epstein was incredibly well-resourced and his friends and enablers famous and powerful. but it's the same stuff
the Epstein files are really devastating because they remind me of how many girls and women miss out on professional opportunities, mentorship and careers because of how many powerful, rich and influential men only view girls and women — and interactions with them — through the lens of sex

after everything else this week, it’s really hard not to imagine what bezos’s friends in his inbox are telling him about how awesome what he did to the post is
Please don't report this as a straightforward business story; it's a story about coercive social transformation being imposed by people so rich they've ceased to see the rest of us as legitimate stakeholders in our own lives

seems bad that a small group of people can have so much power and influence that they can basically change the way the whole world works through their emails and group chats even if they're *not* all connected through the world's most famous pedophile

texas had a fairly robust network of non-profits, mostly faith-based, that were set up to help people in these situations. over the past two years, ken paxton, the attorney general now running for senate, has been working to dismantle those orgs and tying them up in court txilc.org/what-nonprof...

definitely follow rob if you are trying to understand the texas special election results from tonight
Leigh Wambsganss raised nearly $2.3 million for the SD9 district, much of it coming from three billionaire-funded PACs.

Taylor Rehmet raised $346,000, most of it coming from donations of $100 or less. His biggest donor gave him $12K, and a bunch of local unions also cut him larger checks.

man the guy with all of these accusations in the epstein files is the same guy ordering masked agents to minneapolis where they are shooting people execution-style in the street, demanding ten billion dollars from the treasury, blowing up longstanding alliances. wild that our system has no remedy
DOJ has since killed this link. This is what was there:
