Hello! Here’s an updated profile post/thread 🧵 about who I am and the work I do.

I’m honestly overwhelmed by the volume of follows. If you know me IRL or we’re mutuals elsewhere, please say hi!

My work is rooted in Black feminism, post-colonialism, the glocal, and the universal in the particular.

New — I wrote about the myriad ways journalism’s moral rot manifests, and how our crumbling institutions have created the conditions for it to fester:
Moral rot in elite journalism is killing the whole field
The Nuzzi/RFK Jr. mess and the revelation of Esptein's journo pals lay bare a profound moral absence at the heart of our free press.

From AP today, and nary a peep from folks who jump all over me when I say anything about Mamdani or Gaza.

I am going to say this only once but fuck these white racists. Fuck them to hell.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said that Muslims are a “threat to our freedom” on Tuesday as he targeted the largest Muslim civil rights organization in the U.S. with a foreign terrorist organization label in an escalation of a movement of anti-Muslim hate in the state.

Governors do not have the authority to designate groups as a foreign terrorist organization.

Why we do NOT “gotta hand it to” MTG et al when they say something we agree with.
they're just opportunists. they truly don't mind serving white supremacist patriarchy. they have simply shifted strategy a bit.
I'd be really curious if someone better versed in feminist theory wrote about what's happening on the right. Because between Greene, Mace, and Bobert, we've got this bloc forming of women who seem tired of serving a patriarchy of sex criminals. And their rhetoric is starting to lean that direction.

“McBroom said he’s one of a group of parents volunteering to watch the area around the school for any suspected immigration enforcement activity.”

“‘We’re just trying to keep an envelope around the school so that we know if ICE agents come,’ McBroom told The Charlotte Observer.”
“Adam McBroom, a parent of a child at Charlotte East Language Academy, watched the intersection leading to the school for Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents during morning drop off.”

My local Mom for Liberty is really turning up the Transphobia Panic as the evidence that MAGA is full of sex pests from top to bottom comes more to light.

I wish for justice and for Americans to learn a lesson here, but I’m not optimistic.
NEW: The White House intervened on behalf of accused sex trafficker Andrew Tate during a federal investigation.

“It was so offensive to what we’re all here to do, to uphold the law and protect the American people,” one official involved said.
The White House Intervened on Behalf of Accused Sex Trafficker Andrew Tate During a Federal Investigation
Federal authorities were chided for seizing electronic devices from Tate and his brother, and told to return them, records and interviews show. Experts said the intervention was highly inappropriate.

A reminder not to celebrate Marjorie Taylor Greene even if she’s damaging Trump. Let them fight, and let them both burn. Save your praise for people who deserve it.

Good article. We have reported about "Gender Exploratory Therapy" at EITM for years now - it's a subversive practice akin to "crisis pregnancy centers" that seeks to delay transition until the person gives up on being trans - they will NEVER let the trans teen transition.
Conversion therapy is quietly rebranding — and targeting trans youths
As political attacks on gender-affirming care escalate, parents and experts fear a resurgence of discredited “therapies” that seek to change transgender children’s identities.

CPB long known to be the bottom of the LE barrel, which is already a pretty scummy barrel.
“When the Border Patrol was created in 1924, white supremacists entered the agency, building the culture of xenophobia and impunity that exists to this day … CBP agents are arrested for criminal activity and corruption at a per-capita rate that exceeds any other federal agency.”

One way I have found to mourn someone is to set up a monthly sustaining donation to a mutual aid effort they cared about. If you can join me in honoring Alice Wong, @sfdirewolf.bsky.social with a sustaining donation today, please do. Thank you Alice, and I will not let the bastards grind me down.

Tapping the sign: "Staying alive is a lot of work for a disabled person in an ableist society."—Alice Wong in the Introduction to Disability Visibility
I find myself increasingly wondering how able bodied people appear to believe that being disabled is"easy."
Getting accommodations in school, uni and/or work: easy, a breeze, even!
Getting a doctor to write you a certificate supporting your needs: EASY!
Working from home: EASY!

I’m not younger, but like many disabled people, I became disabled after Alice Wong created space and community for me, and I am forever grateful.
What a privilege it is to be a younger disabled person in a community shaped by Alice Wong. Rest in peace, Alice.

Devastated and gutted that Alice Wong is gone.

I never met her, but we have friends in common.

She was so important to so many people. The absence where she used to fill those lives is immense.

Alice worked in a power chair. May she now rest in power.

Read a few of those leaked emails between illiterate billionaires and the first paragraph of the NYT glazing Nuzzi and you will be inoculated against impostor syndrome for the next 10 years. Do you have a halfway functioning brain? Congratulations you are a golden god

My serious take is that Nuzzi committed a huge ethical breach of standards and should be ashamed, not profiting off a book deal and getting a warm and fuzzy profile in the Times.

There are too many good, hard-working ethical reporters out there for this stuff to be rewarded.
Welcome to journalism in 2025, when ethics are not longer required and the whole thing feels like a high school lunchroom, complete with the elitist “You can’t sit with us!” nepo babies at legacy outlets who all write stories about how great their pals are.

God, it’s so depressing.

See, I told you. I TOLD YOU that the freaking filibuster is why the Democrats caved in and gave Republicans everything they wanted!

Democrats sold out the country for an institutional privilege that doesn't even help them.
Heaven forbid the Republicans get rid of the filibuster…

Back when Summers was taken seriously, I already felt about him them the way I do now.
Something absolutely perfect about Larry Summers riffing about the scourge of woke cancel culture being unfair to predatory men in a friendly email to his pal JEFFREY EPSTEIN.

I’m glad someone is spelling this out, because the me that used to spend Sunday with a paper copy of the Times would not recognize the post-2016 rag of the same name.
My newsletter for Assigned went out a little over an hour ago. It was a dissection of the position NYT is in currently, with a reputation in flux between its past as the most serious, respectable, elite paper in America and its present as the paper that asked Ms. Rachel if she was paid by Hamas.
Friendly reminder that the NYT asked Ms Rachel if she was paid by Hamas.
