Well, so far this morning I've delighted a lady with castor cups, helped another who couldn't fit blades in her Stanley knife, and made someone's day with fuse wire.

Hardware. It's an odd life 🙂

One closing thing: If you are in software, and you ever get the chance to speak to someone who works on point of sale machines of any kind, you ABSOLUTELY SHOULD. They have to solve the weirdest problems with an incredibly constrained resource set for customers who deny that they exist.

I love my ear defenders, I love my daughter, & I'm proud of every adult & child who wears theirs. I hate the servile, authoritarian streak in the British character that believes school is for suffering & conformity, the hidebound, craven dogma that a better world is impossible.

I'm obliged for the nod.

The "Penrose Effect" seems to be a real thing - hypothesised in the 1930s and re-tested in the last decade or so:

Where you reduce your inpatient psychiatric provision, you'll see a correlated rise within 10yrs in prisons of seriously mentally ill prisoners.

It’s disgraceful that there are no-go areas in modern Britain, and that they’re the private estates of wealthy landowners.

Hate doing this, because everyone is skint, but Oz is the only important thing in my life and I'm too broke to cover his additional surgery. If you'd like to help, please use OZVET20 at checkout on fenrisgames.com/shop for a nice discount or ko-fi.com/fenrisgames if you don't need toys.
Thankyou 💔

Found a solution.

I can copy a link if I selected Share *within* Word
It's far from ideal.
They are doing everything they can to stop people using File Explorer.

Microsoft are cunts. If you work in the Microsoft Office team, you're a cunt by association. Absolute fuck cuntery.

OH MY FUCKING GOD.

It's even better.

One option is "Share using OUtlook"

If you select it, it opens New Outlook.

EVEN IF YOU'RE USING OLD OUTLOOK (because new Outlook is absolute shite)

How can anyone at Microsoft live with themselves? Fucking up people's existing work processes for no benefit?

Want to copy link to a document into a meeting invite.

Go to the document. Right click.

Uhoh.

"Share" has been replaced with a context menu. "Copy Link" is no longer an option.

I knew how to do a thing.
Now I can't do a thing.

What the fuck are you doing Microsoft?

I am.

Not living my best life at the moment.
I have a place to live, a job, I'm relatively healthy, I have half a social life.

But I am so. Very. Lonely.

The thing about crashing a tank through a museum of antiquities is that you don't have to be a particularly skilled driver to do a lot of damage.
It's difficult at times to hold both "this admin is doing lasting and serious damage to our institutions and the globe" and "this admin is full of the most bafflingly incompetent idiots you've ever seen who fall over themselves like a Vaudeville act constantly."

The duality of man is incredible.
