The next BBC Director General will have a lot on their plate and lots of things to do. The first and most serious thing to do is fix the EastEnders titles, so that 'EastEnders' fades in from the bottom to the top again.

TV THAT TIME FORGOT: Nelson's Column (BBC1, 1994-95)

John Gordon Sinclair sitcom about a journalist called Gavin Nelson who... has a column. It's either the worst ever name for a sitcom or... the best?

Whoever is the new Director General at the BBC, hopefully Tim Davie will stick around to film the regeneration.

When I worked at the BBC and the then DG left, we all hid in the NBH building so worried were we that in walking out with our bike helmets on to get home, we’d end up on the breaking news bulletins.

Tim Davie signed that long deal to keep MasterChef on air. His position as BBC Director General was untenable from that moment onwards.
