One of the hardest parts of parenting in the current situation is knowing that a lot of the time, the only thing you can do is parent, and you have to trust others to keep fighting.
I'm steamed about it but, as circumspect as I can be, just going to say that parents should not be having conversations about the safest way to observe/protest ICE while your kids are present. You're asking for the safest way to stick a fork in an electrical outlet. Not possible! You can't do it!

The people who make Shein's clothes labor for ten to twelve hours per day (in violation of China's labor laws), some up to seven days a week, and earn as little as 15 to 30 cents per t-shirt.

This is Shein's supply chain. The factories are contracted to make clothes on order - some small, some big. If the chinos are a hit, orders will ramp up and so must production. Factories then hire temporary workers to meet the demand their permanent staff cannot fulfil.
The migrant worker from Jiangxi is looking for a short-term contract - and the chinos are an option.
"We earn so little. The cost of living is now so high," she says, adding that she hopes to make enough to send back to her two children who are living with their grandparents.
"We get paid per piece," she explains. "It depends how difficult the item is. So I got the alert this morning and saw that it was nearby, but it still took me a bit to get out of the house and head over. Then I had to find parking, which was also tricky as there's not a ton of legal on-street parking (and most of it was full). I lucked out and saw someone leaving.
Protesters sprayed with pepper spray for blocking the vehicle, then immediately dispersed.

Federal agents caused multiple injuries and deployed tear gas multiple times. The agencies that had a confirmed presence are: FBI, ICE, DEA, and HSI. Federal agents were seen with “police vests” but we have confirmation that SPPD and the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office were not involved or present.

Shutting down the government is a big deal. People have been hurt in big ways as a result of the decision. To have that suffering be for nothing—to re-open the government without actually having protected people’s health insurance and economic well-being—is unconscionable.
