I found this reply interesting ("Can those foreign companies open shop in the US?")

I don't think Japanese or South Korean menswear can be made in the US. At least, not without losing something. Let's explore why. 🧵

The American way! ✊
everyone will see the initial images of them trying to project force, but they got chased out by a bunch of normal americans bearing fruit and foul language
After Bass spoke with what I assume is a DHS rep, they packed shit up and headed out. The whole neighborhood turned out to chase them out of the park. Some fruit was thrown, alot of yelling

I cannot emphasize enough how much we don’t need or want these little ICE goblins in LA.

Leave us alone, let us take care of our city and our neighbors. ICE is the threat; a guy selling fruit in the park is not.

All these dipshits showed up strapped for Fallujah because blue cities are just so dangerous, and here's the mayor, looking like she's on her way to a baby shower.

I’ve been digging into my grandma’s family tree and even though her family seems to be surprisingly sturdy, there are still a number of children dying in their first year or at toddler ages. And two children who died on the same night during the Clydebank Blitz of Scotland in 1941.
One of the things about historical research is you encounter the fact that children used to die at heart-breaking rates. The cemeteries are full of tombs with zero to eleven year life spans. The correspondence mentions child death on a regular basis.

Children died often.

GoFundMe has set up a page for the Texan flood victims. Each campaign has been verified by the company's Trust & Safety experts, which means you know your money is going directly to families. Please consider donating if you can. Their stories are heartbreaking.

It is always a tragedy when children die. Always.

We can talk about what we must do to keep children safe.

But by god, if I see anyone saying that THESE children--for whatever set of "these children" you are seeing--deserve it, I will block you on sight.

World Central Kitchen is always a good bet.
Absolutely do not give to the Salvation Army, but here are some other folks working to help Kerrville. I suggest throwing support behind World Central Kitchen and Austin Pets Alive.
How to help people affected by Kerrville-area floods
Disaster relief organizations, including the Red Cross and Salvation Army, have deployed to the Texas Hill Country to help those affected.

My cousin, who’s ~15 years older than me, does this all the time and I’m used to it specifically and only from her. But if anyone else does this, I DO assume we’re in some kind of fight that I didn’t know about. Absolutely menacing
this is exactly how I feel whenever I ask someone if they’re mad at me because they ended their last text with a period
Trying to talk to a friend IRL about how you can pretend to get mad at food takes as long as you like all the skeets because then everybody knows we are joshing but if you don't like the skeets you seem like you're actually mad at folk for individual taste preferencss and I sound like a crazy person

I just want everyone to be quite sure that they can always say "Yes" when the group asks questions that boil down to "Did you do this in the narrative on purpose"

It's not about defensibility. It's about intent and craft choices. :)

Boycotting is a privilege.

Prepping is a privilege.

Protesting is a privilege.

Leaving the country is a privilege.

Not all solutions are accessible to everyone.

We need robust community care to ensure people aren’t left behind.

America is beautiful, contradictory, unfinished. I am proud of our country even as we constantly strive to make it better, to protect and deepen our democracy, to fulfill its promise for each and every person who calls it home.

Happy Independence Day. No Kings in America.

People living under fascism didn’t survive by giving up joy—they protected it.

They held onto the things fascism tried to erase: art, friendship, jokes, rituals, language, memory.

Not as escapism but as resistance. As proof they were still human.

Joy isn’t frivolous under fascism. It’s strategic.

I am a crusader for Norman Rockwell's reputation, tbh. Yes, stupid asshole conservatives love his work! Stupid asshole conservatives also think "Born in the USA" is a patriotic anthem, and that's not Bruce Springsteen's fault either!!!!!
They also never mean "a profoundly moving indictment of American racism", somehow.

Other people are not NPCs. They are people with hopes and dreams and fears just like you. They deserve dignity and healthcare and kindness and shelter and to not have their kids die in floods or because their land is under constant siege. Just...stop othering people please.

Do not lose hope.

You are not alone.

Most of America rejects this.

The people do not want an authoritarian regime—we do not want oligarchy, we do not want Christian nationalism, we do not want techno-fascism.

And we’re more powerful than they’ll ever be. The people united will never be defeated.

I've seen a few "anyone who thinks they can stop this bill is naïve" posts this morning, and like... okay? Your point?

I don't fight based on whether or not I think I can win. I fight based on whether or not I think it's right.

Letting them coast into this horror show without a fight is WRONG.
