Why would I learn from history, everyone from history is just dead dry bones now and *I* am living wet bones and therefore superior
What happens to the couples who aren’t interesting enough to be full story arcs on Couples Therapy and just end up as waiting room b roll, do they have to pay for therapy?

I’m reading the sequel to Mickey7 and while I just started it I’m a little bummed that Mickey17 changed the story’s ending enough to preclude the possibility of them making a movie of the sequel

I feel like in America the mindset is that a name is just a random collection of sounds that has been designated as a name, which is funny because in a lot of other cultures names are just normal words that get assigned to people at birth

I can’t tell if there are now two competing Palestine sodas or if Drink Palestina changed its name (I checked the cans and they have different URLs but I’m too lazy to check the websites themselves)

You know what would be a good Metro desk piece? A photo essay of the places in NYC where you can still find pristine, unsullied snow weeks after the blizzard.

This is the 38th time that the U.S. military has unlawfully killed civilians on the orders of Pete Hegseth and Donald Trump. At least 130 people — never charged with crimes, their identities unknown to their executioners — are now dead.

One of the reasons why I never turn my nose up at weird rituals is because I am very aware that my own religious practice involves dancing with a scroll of parchment that’s dressed like a drag queen and shaking a bundle of sticks in a bunch of directions and smelling an ugly lemon.
I think about cults a lot because as an abuse survivor I am cognizant of how readily I can get stuck in a bad situation with no easy way out. Anyway! When I call something a cult it’s not necessarily because of weird rituals, cause that could just be religion. What I see as a cult is three things:

Put this on my tombstone
One thing about me is that I do *not* think I am too smart to get sucked into a cult and that’s why I have to be ever vigilant about them

It’s really good that I am broke and that Williamsburg is not a convenient location for me because man, a part of me is like “you know I wouldn’t mind going back to Othership”

I guess I gotta make sauna and cold plunge a more regular part of my life (just not the culty expensive one)
Okay so that place is a straight up cult

Oh also having been to the class it’s what expected: they’re just doing a guided meditation/breath work — this one where they talk about the elements — and while subtle differences to that experience might make you feel more relaxed or more energized it’s sorta hard to describe that in copy.
I opted for this gibberish

Oh man I just remembered that I had a very elaborate and extensive dream that involved hanging out with various exes, including attending a screening for a film by my most recent ex that had a character with my name. I stood up in the theater and screamed, “Take my name out of your film!!!”
February 10, 2026 at 12:09 PM
Oh also when you do this class and they bring you back into the sauna the second time they’re like “WAIT THERE IS A SECRET FIFTH ELEMENT: ETHER.”
I opted for this gibberish

For clarification, when I say that something like OneTaste or Othership is a cult what I mean is that they are cultivating an experience that is designed to make you feel vulnerable and dependent on them so that they can exploit you and extract as much money as possible from you
Okay so that place is a straight up cult

It’s not really known what killed my father (aside from the proximate cause of “taken off the ventilator after being determined to be brain dead”), but one of the possibilities floated was a pulmonary embolism, so learning that that’s what’s on Catherine O’Hara’s death certificate is giving me feels

My life would be so much easier if I could just do a normal job that paid me a steady salary and gave me things like a 401k and HSA or FSA or whatever you call it but alas I was cursed to be interesting
