So much of American history is just impulsive and extremely stupid elites, who don't believe in consequences because they have never personally experienced them, doing highly consequential stuff because they're bored or believe it might make them richer. I guess a lot of our culture, too.

Members of Congress: stop posting online and APPEAR, PHYSICALLY on the steps of the Capitol to decry this unconstitutional violation of domestic & international law. SHOW THE PEOPLE the level of danger we are facing as a country.

Tonight, the President of the United States has launched an unconstitutional war of aggression, dooming another generation to spill their blood for oil, and lay waste to a sovereign nation.

I demand that Congress exercise its power, halt this conflict, and impeach this war criminal president.

It leaves the U.S. in charge of managing the future of Venezuela, with potential consequences for American lives and treasure.

It is way past time for Congress to reassert its proper constitutional powers.

Far from being a simple surgical strike, this action to remove Maduro will reverberate in unexpected and significant ways.

It undermines our defense of sovereignty, reducing our authority regarding actions China might take against Taiwan or Putin against Ukraine.

Once again, U.S. foreign policy is all about oil, regime change, and might makes right.

This military operation violated our own Constitution which requires Congressional approval for acts of war.

I hate that we just have to sit here and complain about war crimes on the internet because our feckless congress won't act or use their powers. Cursed American life.

This country is governed by people who manufacture crises, lie to justify violence, and then tell us it’s for our own good. They wreck lives abroad while people here can’t afford to live. This isn’t strength or strategy and it doesn't make us safer. The opposite. It’s incompetence, cruelty, and rot.

Dear news media,
Why not spend a few minutes today explaining how the process of going to war is supposed to work in a constitutional democracy? Because it ain't this.

Waking up to the news that the US has bombed Venezuela, kidnapped its president, and will now seek to decide its fate (i.e. “liberate” its natural resources). We don’t have money for basic infrastructure in our local communities, but we can always start new wars? Absolutely sickening.

People are going to try and lure you into debates about whether Maduro was a good guy or not and the thing is, it doesn’t matter for the purposes of discussing whether violent kidnappings and extrajudicial murders by the US government are ok. No, they aren’t! End of convo.

The latest print issue of @streetroots.bsky.social is a devastating read, even if you won’t read every word. 16 pages of items city contractors took during sweeps in the first half of 2025. Data, presented without comment, tells the real, human-centered story of unsheltered Portland homelessness.

I said at the very beginning that Portland would remind Trump why he lost the first time he tried to mess with our city.

Trump lost in 2020, he lost in 2025, and he’s going to keep losing in 2026 because Portlanders will always stand up for what’s right.

We’re going to win.

It's 2025 please tell me your understanding of power isn't simply "having it" vs "not having it" 😐

Begging, pleading for y'all to move past two dimensional thinking

Because this lack of understanding the power spectrum is exactly how the MOST powerful hoard it from the rest of us.
You’re an elected official with a span of responsibility given to you by the voters. Please help me understand how you’re NOT one of the “people with power.” This sort of learned helplessness isn’t moving Portland forward either.
