My grandpa came from Guatemala in 1970 chasing the American dream. Today I spoke on Telemundo & Univision as a Portland City Councilor, fighting to protect that dream for our immigrant neighbors. I wish he was here to see the seeds he planted grow, but I know he’s proud. 🥲😭 Miss you, viejito. 🇬🇹💖

But every now and then I get emails like this and it restores a bit of my hope in these dark times. ❤️🩹 I truly take my job as an elected so seriously and I'm doing my best to be really open and honest about what's happening and how I'm thinking. 🥲 tysm
