you'll spend your entire life thinking "that's not her, not really" and pushing the thought away. you'll never truly grieve. you'll become attached to a simulacrum, something that isn't your grandmother & never was; it will eventually replace her in your memory. you will live in hell before you die

a real drinker's drink....only existed for a few years....not everyone who died during that time drank a can, but everyone who drank a can was instantly killed
Sparks being everywhere was such a blip. Seemingly no one I talk to these days remembers it.

According to @ncgovernor.bsky.social, state officials aren't getting information about Border Patrol immigration enforcement activities in the Triangle and Charlotte. "We don't know pretty much anything. They're operating in the shadows."

NC Republican leaders backing immigration enforcement in Triangle, Charlotte, as Democrats oppose moves
As Border Patrol agents descend on Charlotte — and are reportedly active in Wake County and Durham too — the state's top Republican leaders are supportive of the immigration enforcement action.

Here’s a story for every national news outlet:

In N.C., churchgoers are literally running into the woods as federal agents descend on the property.

“Inside the church, women and children sobbed as they wondered whether their loved ones had been taken.”

basically every 2024 truism is dead. Trump did not build a lasting multiracial coalition or turn young men into committed Republicans. You don’t need to cave on trans rights to win. The pundits have nothing left to tell you.

Zohran Mamdani wins!

He ran on an unabashedly pro-transgender platform, stood up for the most vulnerable, as so many have pushed for the Democratic Party to abandon trans people in order to win.

Major win for trans New Yorkers - he has vowed for intense resistance to anti-trans Trump policies.

If you can afford it, a *monetary* donation (it goes a lot farther!) to your local food bank would be a most excellent thing to do right now.
I want more people to care that SNAP benefits are being cut off on November 1. 40% of SNAP beneficiaries are children. This is callous and vile.

“Trad cath” is, weirdly, code for “unfamiliar with Catholicism”
Far-right Catholics freaking out about the Pope doing normal Pope things will always be entertaining.

The Pope blessed some water? Can you even imagine?

to my mind the woman who dies of sepsis because of antiabortion laws, or the person who dies because they can't afford insulin -- these are just as much victims of political violence as the man shot through the throat while making a racist speech

considering republicans are trying to traffic children literally as we speak, “we will protect your children from republicans” is a broadly applicable goal that seems easy to sell but i guess we don’t talk about child safety at the kitchen table?
why can't the democrat messaging on trans people be "no, we are not going to force children to undergo genital inspections in order to play sports"

remember folks, we cant have gun restrictions because if we do the federal government will occupy our streets, imprison people without due process, ship dissidents to foreign gulags and things of that nature

I need Democratic online types to understand that because of this, Newsom is dead to me. Dead. I'd sooner vote for an actual corpse. There is no hope, none, that he'll win me over, *because he has established he is a bad person*. There's no coming back from this. Take my advice and move the fuck on.
1. This morning, California Governor said he was in "complete alignment" with anti-LGBTQ+ hate-influencer Charlie Kirk of TPUSA on transgender sports.

He also conceded on trans inmates and gender affirming care for youth.

It's so much worse than being reported.

I guess the media needs it to be spelled out but the core principle of RFKj wellness fascism is that if you get sick it’s your fault, you could have avoided it by using the right “supplements” and working out, so you might as well die because you’re of no use
If you find this confusing you should never comment on American politics ever again.

I do not understand how in this situation hundreds of affected would-be plaintiffs were just supposed to keep their powder dry for maybe decades, and to what end? Let these laws go into effect unchallenged? Ok

I’ve had many conversations with civil rights lawyers about litigation strategy with this SCOTUS, including some sharp criticism of avoidable test cases, but I have never heard any criticism of Skrmetti

In this situation Idk even what the mechanism would be for preventing a test case

It's amazing how much clarity the New York Times has about Viktor Orban and his crackdown on LGBTQ people. If only they had it for Trump and the US. It's the exact same political strategy!

the 2016 NC bathroom bill cost the state 400 million dollars & was called the most anti-LGBT law in the US. president obama called for its repeal. by 2021, state-level trans bigotry was so normalized that trans people started to lose everything from bathroom to healthcare access in 24 states.
