The Nashville radar is down. But, the good people who serve you every day at the NWS finally received the 130lb palette with the part on it. Their two techs are now lugging that part to the top of the radar tower to try and get the radar operational before SVR arrives. All while not being paid.

15 years ago, I said every social media founder should be forced to use and live with the default settings of their platforms. Now I would say that the AI founders should have their tools pointed at their families for a year before they can deploy them elsewhere.
I seem to remember whole congressional hearings about the terrible destructive force that is violence in video games and yet, there is a very strange quiet about an unregulated technology that coaches people to suicide.

"In a time of seemingly infinite polarization, his truculent, life-affirming catalog is one of the few things most Americans can actually agree upon." Happy birthday to the man behind 'Damn The Torpedoes'. Here is an overview I wrote for the Ringer a few years back. www.theringer.com/2019/10/18/m...
“Everybody’s Had to Fight to Be Free”: Tom Petty’s ‘Damn the Torpedoes’ Turns 40
Recorded at a time of roiling complication for the Heartbreakers, Petty’s virtuosic hooks and desire for resonance made this the band’s finest—and angriest—album

Remember what I repeated over and over and over again for years like it was a goddamn assignment, the biggest lesson my life so far has taught me: borders also keep you in.
If this gets through, we're all on that list. And then there's no fleeing anything.

District and appellate courts, I think fairly, keep asking the Supreme Court to clarify what they actually mean—i.e. "If the new rule is that the Trump admin can never lose then you have to say that" and the Supreme Court keeps being like "No, you're supposed to just do it without us having to say."

Every year, the Heritage Foundation puts out an "economic freedom" index, ranking every country in the world by (more or less) how lightly they're regulated.

There are four Nordic countries in the top 15.
One thing I feel like everyone needs to understand: those social-democratic Scandinavian nations we're all jealous of? Their market economies are *less regulated* than ours. More free. It's just that they collect a lot of taxes on the back end & fund social services & infrastructure.
I’m sorry 😞

The US needs an overhaul. Socialism should not be an evil word.

Good things are possible but for once the US needs to look to other countries as an example. I hope you get a leader that can inspire the populace to care for each other.

The entire National Park Service budget was just $3.6 billion.

That’s some return on investment — so why is Donald Trump taking an axe to our parks?

Old Soviet joke for today:

A man walks into a newsstand every day, looks around, and leaves.

After a long time of this, the owner says “Can I help you find something?”

“I’m looking for the obituaries.”

“The obituaries are in the back of the newspaper, comrade.”

“Not the one I’m looking for.”
