The US immigrant population generated more in taxes than they received in benefits from all levels of government every year from 1994 to 2023.

The Cato study provides the first-ever 30-year analysis of the fiscal effects of immigration on government budgets.

They just blindly shot through the fucking door.

"Additional photographs show damage consistent with a bullet fragment lodged in a bedroom wall down the hallway — suggesting it traveled between a mattress and a portable crib in a room where several small children sleep."
"Photographic evidence from the shooting scene of a Venezuelan man by federal agents last month in Minneapolis supports the account of witnesses there – and appears to undercut the narrative provided by federal officials." www.startribune.com/ice-raids-mi...

Judge: How do you plead?
DOJ: Whiny.
This is unreal. An AUSA talking like that in open court is about as close as you can come to a total breakdown. Never heard of anything like it.

Minnesota winning the Nobel Peace Prize would be legit funny. Also @normcharlatan.bsky.social has to give the speech.
The people of Minneapolis have been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
The first time a city's population has ever been nominated.

After Trump won in 2016, the NYT and every major media outlet offered resources and books to "get to know" his voters. Can we get the same curiosity about the people his policies have terrorized over the past 10 years?

That means ~815k Minnesotans participated in the shutdown and ~310k in the strike. That would make Minnesota’s January 23 general strike one of the largest in history.
A new poll finds that 1 in 4 Minnesota voters took part in the Jan 23 shutdown against ICE, or have a loved one who did. Of those, 38% DID NOT WORK, either because they made the choice to stay out, or their workplaces closed. By me, @thomasbirm.bsky.social, @bloomekatz.bsky.social

I like it when I can do something to help people displaced by ICE and then after I do that thing I get to eat a pizza.

This is funny, but also brilliant. Once people go down the path (of any wrong decision), it is sooooo hard to turn back -- because it is tantamount to admitting you were foolish. As hard as it is, we need to offer soft landings and gentle off ramps (which is what we'd want too)

I'm sure these folks are eagerly waiting to see Trump's plan for the East Wing.
Tens of thousands of people across Tennessee, Mississippi and Louisiana have gone a week without power or heat after a brutal ice storm. At least three dozen people have died in connection with the storm, officials have said.
