Minneapolis

I shall be telling this with a sigh somewhere ages and ages hence:
Pinned
I have begun what I intend to be a COMPREHENSIVE guide to every location-appropriate bike rack in Minneapolis.

Thank you to everyone who helped me find these. If you know of others, let me know~

Location-Appropriate Bike Racks of Minneapolis
Here is a running list of every bike rack in Minneapolis with a location-appropriate shape:

In fact, not only would a study on whether park roads could be closed more often for events be “egregious, authoritarian, elitist, ableist, and racist,” it is certain that, if approved, not one human being on earth would survive to tell the tale
Here is a small taste of the misinformation and fearmongering we have to deal with when pushing for a relatively minor pedestrianization effort.

No, this project will not permanently close west river parkway to cars. No, it will not inhibit emergency vehicle response times. No to all of these lies.

It appears two ICE observers following ICE agents on 31st in south Minneapolis this morning were arrested. Activists say it appears the ICE observer vehicle was stopped or slid into something, and ICE agents used pepper spray and broke the car window, arresting the occupants.

It is a good day when you learn that a large, popular account is run by someone fully braindead, and you can just block it.

kind of darkly funny that "gender studies" is the stereotypical "useless degree" because gender studies will help you understand a large and important chunk of the current psychosis in american life

Patriots in control:
Huge news today! That's right, at our Park Board meeting this Wednesday at 5pm I will introduce two resolutions. The first is to restart our Open Parkways work. The second would direct staff to reopen work on following the long range plan for the Uptown Mall Park!

For non-Minnesotans: the feeling among Democrats was that Walz was pushing his luck running for a third term (there’s never been a three-term gov in Minnesota’s history) and for various reasons was a potential liability to the party down ballot. This is a surprise, but not a big one.
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz abruptly reversed course Monday and ended his campaign for a third term, a humbling political crash from his meteoric rise to the national Democratic presidential ticket in 2024.

Gov. Tim Walz was three months into a reelection campaign that has been plagued by criticism over his handling of fraud and political opposition stirred up by President Donald Trump.

Here’s your weird offer of the day:

does anyone in Minneapolis want like $100 of Niacin? I ordered it by mistake and got a refund but they told me just to keep it. I have two of these bottles. No idea what it’s used for (other than as an active placebo in medical psychedelics studies)

Narrative violation:
Interesting data (from Waymo) showing that robotaxis are significantly safer than the average human driver. This is likely because they respect traffic rules. An NYT op-ed by a neurosurgeon calls for a broader adoption as a public health measure. Thoughts? www.nytimes.com/2025/12/02/o...
