"¡Alerta! (Beware!)" screenprint on paper ----- [from Chicana Por Mi Raza]----- ¡Alerta! is a serigraph created in Cervántez's time collaborating with the East Side Artistas (ESA). According to Cervántez, the piece along with the ¡Alerta! exhibition is inspired by an instalation, multi-media piece that she completes for her second-semester, first quarter review in her time at The University of California, Berkely. The serigraph addresses the lives lost in the Central American crisis.

"Octopi (from Lettered Creatures)" pencil on paper ----- [synopsis from the publisher of "Lettered Creatures"] ----- This book is a duet by two great contemporary artists: Brad and Mark Leithauser are brothers; Brad is a bard and Mark has made his mark as a painter and draftsman. They share the same exquisite family wit, one born in precise observation matched with intellectual playfulness. This wit is on display on every page of this alphabet bestiary, each spread of which is devoted to an emblematic creature--an appetitive Anteater, an annoying Fly, an addled Joey, a prickly Porcupine, and twenty-two more. On the left of each spread is an eight-line poem; opposite it is a complementary drawing. The poems will remind readers sometimes of Marianne Moore, sometimes of Ogden Nash; the detail of the drawings will remind them of John James Audubon and their pointed humor of Tenniel's Alice in Wonderland.

"Boycott Grapes, Support the United Farm Workers Union" offset lithograph on paper ----- [from the Smithsonian American Art Museum] ----- Viramontes created "Boycott Grapes, Support the United Farm Workers Union" the year César Chávez initiated a new grape boycott in response to the Teamsters' violent intervention in disputes between the UFW and California growers. Viramontes was aware of the Teamsters' brutal tactics, which likely informed his imagery of a formidable Aztec warrior squeezing grapes that spew blood instead of juice. The artist suggested that the UFW sell the poster to support the boycott. While the union initially believed the blood symbolism was too graphic, they began selling the print via mail order through El Malcriado, the UFW newspaper. ~ ¡Printing the Revolution!
