We had a bit of ice the other day and I was thinking how birds might not like to eat the frozen berries. I was delighted to come across a flock of Cedar Waxwings that happily proved me wrong.

Still unreported, should be investigated:

ICE shot Richard outside a mall. I visited mall security office. Guard said ICE and LAPD came in, used thumb drive to copy mall’s video footage, and THEN DELETED THE EVIDENCE from mall’s local drives. He showed me the missing timeline part saying “no data.”
Huge win for Richard Noticias LA, TikTok journalist shot by ICE. Criminal charges dismissed with prejudice, meaning can’t be refiled.

ICE did him DIRTY. Repeatedly. Inhumane treatment, basically medical torture.

Still in ICE custody on immigration case. They owe him unconditional release.

That's what TV was like. We liked the slot machine of turning on the TV, leaving it on, and trusting curation or cable would turn up *something*. I'm back to doing that now with Pluto or the Criterion's live channel. TV was fine, [college]radio was fine. Old woman yells at algorithmic cloud of crap.
youtube autoplay throwing whole ass movies at you is smart. against my will i watched half of space jam yesterday and now im watching 2/3 of boomerang, which is a fun movie but not one i would’ve ever gone looking for

My favorite thing about Frog and Toad is that it is the story of two men deeply and obviously in love with one another, drawn as a tribute to his lifelong partner by a gay man long before their relationship was socially sanctioned.
Then Frog and Toad went out onto the front porch to wait for the mail.

They sat there, feeling happy together.

Gave @danieland.bsky.social's Krampus a good home. 🎄👹🥰 The paint is on top of brushed copper, creating an *incredible* effect in person, and a real pain in the ass to photograph. You have to get the angle and lighting just right. Bet this will be killer in daylight, too.

Bex got me this book for Christmas, it’s Halloween stories collected from periodicals that haven’t been reprinted before. Has names recognizable by most (Edith Wharton), names horror nerds know (Eleanor Scott), and some like “this was just attributed to ‘Geraldine’ that’s all we know”

One of my favorite presents ever—my dad found and framed this pic of my mother @sunminkimes.bsky.social at a Seattle courthouse after she passed her US citizenship test in 1981. Like so many of the people who come here to start a new life, she is the best of us—the bravest, strongest person I know.

Just gonna say this again for games sphere cus we get the same question:

Networking doesn't mean schmoozing up to famous people, it means making friends with your peers. Then in 10 years, 20, one of you might be famous? And sure you're still helping each other cus well yeah friends.

Make. Friends.
Talking to one of these types at a con who asked how I 'got in' with so many 'famous writers' who I'd been talking to and I said "we made friends before anyone knew who we were decades ago by striking up interesting conversations and enjoying each other's company" and he kept re-asking the question.
They have come to the convention hoping to "break in" and then find themselves -- shocker! -- a "nobody in the book world." Yeah no shit! We all are! I have gently told guys like this a million times that it takes most of us *years* of hard work but they do not believe that could be true for them. +
